August 4, ALD's Technician located our leak. We were relieved that it was not under the concrete driveway, or walkway.

Leak was our irrigation line, thankfully separate from household water, so that did not require shut-off. It's been warm to hot, so we were concerned with losing lawn and plants. We watered a little bit by hand.

Scheduled repair day Aug. 9th. Technicians arrived in a timely manner. Excavated the flagged location only to discover that was NOT the leak's location. Across from walkway is our lawn, so they excavated a small area there. That is where the leak was.

Original work during subdivision build was a mish-mosh of stacked pipes. The leak was caused by tree root(s) crushing the pipe(s). The tree is rather large; roots are 3""-6"" diameter or more. We approved cutting of the root(s) as needed to effectively repair the irrigation leak.

A subsequently costly error was made. The Technician CUT the IRRIGATION SYSTEM WIRING. Our sprinkler and drip system no longer operate. We have had to hire someone for that repair, and also to replace the section of lawn that was cut away. It's been hot and despite watering it, those small pieces are drying out and dying.

As for the irrigation wiring, a completely new line needs to be installed. They are selecting a new path for the line.

Everyone I dealt with was friendly, polite and responsive to questions. I don't know if cutting the irrigation line could have been avoided or not. Even though the first site was not the source of the leak, pipe was damaged by large root and that root was headed towards foundation. It's been cut as well so hopefully no future issues.

I sent a service request via their website. I received a confirming email that someone would contact me. No one ever contacted me.

I found another service provider.

I waited an entire week for an appointment with window from 10am to 2pm. No one called or showed up. When I called them at 2:15, an answering service said someone will call me back. An hour later, I get a call back saying that they don't know what happened, but no one is coming today. Very disappointing and definitely unprofessional. I stayed up most of the day after working all night. No discount, yet I'd have to pay them $100 for a missed appointment. I now have to wait another 4 days for another appointment window.

It's recommend to contact this company because I had a leak at my house in Fremont. I've called this company 3 times by phone and I was told someone will contact me back. I even contacted them by email, and even on their website. And not even 1 response. Since this company does not even care about calling a potential customer back to make a schedule, maybe all the bad review is true. They don't really care about their customers.

Wanted to update this review... another company came out and identified a very major leak in the skimmer basket in the first 5 minutes without even diving. American Leak guy didn't even open our skimmer basket. I'll be reaching out for a refund since this makes it completely irrelevant that they didn't dive in the first place. Turns out they did just about nothing.

Richard spent a few hours looking for a leak in my home and couldn't find it. They charged me $250.00 for absolutely nothing but looking!! I will never use this company again and I'll tell my family and friends that they are a rip off.

Run from this company as fast as you can. I have hired over one hundred contractors/companies over 25 years and this has been the worst company I have ever dealt with. They charged me $675 for 30 minutes of work. Work that they did not fully perform. The experience was like getting a bid for work that they did not end up needing to perform, but still want you to pay the full amoun. I have left 5 messages for them and no one ever calls back. Do not hire them EVER! They have no business morals.

This company is a total scam and they prey on people's vulnerability. We had a water leakage issue in the irrigation system and I called them. A guy from American Leak showed up and in 5 minutes proclaimed he has found where the leakage is and marked it. They then sent another guy over in a few days to do repair, who dug up my garden with dirt everywhere and threw his hands in the air telling us the leak is somewhere else and they can't find or fix it. He left without even turning off my water hose leaving water everywhere. All we got is a fat bill from them. Utterly disappointing. Don't believe or trust this company or anything they say.

I've reached out to this company by email, phone and even on their website (weeks ago) and not even 1 response. Given the nature of how this company is recommended, you would think that they would be more professional. No help at all.

For starters, they charge $615 for the first hour of service and it's a minimum of 1 hour service with each additional hour being $195, so be prepared for that.
So to give some backstory, I had a technician come out to my house to locate a leak that I had in my main water line. He narrowed down the leak's location to roughly a 3ft area. So, I hand dug 3-4 feet past each locate flag for a total of 9-10 feet, but did not find the leak. I then called them to come back to relocate the leak. He returned a few days later and after a couple of hours of work, he determined the leak was actually 5-6 feet away from where I stopped digging. So in total he was 10-12 feet away from his initial leak location. He then had the audacity to charge me an additional $341 (after our previous bill of $615).
The reason I am writing this bad review is not only because of the outrageous prices, but the dishonesty and unprofessionalism of how they conduct their business. The dishonesty was when the technician came to my house the first time, I asked him if his initial leak location was inaccurate, if he would charge us for a second visit. His response to both my wife and I was, ""If I am only a couple of feet off I will have to charge you for the second visit, but if I am way off, I will not charge you"". As I mentioned above, he was easily 10-12 feet off in his original ""leak detection"", but still charged me $341 for his second visit even though he was clearly, ""way off"". After the second charge I attempted to get ahold of them in which I called and left 3 voicemails and never got a call back. Finally after calling for the 4th or 5th time I was actually able to talk to someone. When speaking with the ""manager"" who was actually the person conducting the leak detection, I confronted him about how he told me he would not charge us for a second visit if he was ""way off"", in which his response was, ""Well, sometimes things come up."" Since the leak was still not specifically located even after his second visit, I asked if he would then charge us for a THIRD visit to officially locate the leak, and his response was, ""Most likely"".
In conclusion, I think this company is highly unreasonable and unprofessional and I would NOT recommend them to anyone. After being charged for two visits to our home to locate our leak, they still have not been able to accurately find where the leak is. That being said, we are now having to dig up our entire water line and replace the whole thing rather than just the portion that is leaking. I will also add that after their first visit before sending a technician out the second time, they told us that if they were unable to detect the leak and we decided to replace the entire line, they would refund us our money from the first visit. So I will be expecting a full refund for the job ""not completed"".
