We had, what the 1st technician diagnosed, as a 'massive leak' underground. His equipment couldn't detect where it was, so they had to send in the 'big guns'. It took everything up to helium to detect it. And they were right - it was massive.

Ivan did a great job in inspecting the in-ground pool and hot tub at the home we just purchased. He was thorough during testing and promptly sent estimates to repair the issues he had discovered. We hired American Leak Detection to find a leak in our remodeled pool and spa. We were leaking 300 gallons of water per day. They indeed came out relatively quick and proceeded to do their inspection. Grant was the gentleman that came out and although he was quite knowledgeable and pleasant, unfortunately he and my husband did not communicate well. We resolved any issues from that miscommunication just by talking on the phone. So kudos for that. When you request ALD to come out you are required to sign a work order and give your credit card number. No problem with that. However, you are told by both the person in the office and the technician you will receive a report addressing what they tested and where the leak most probably exists within a day or so. Now, we have a problem. My credit card was charged, but we never received a report. We also had requested a quote for any repairs for us to consider. A week later we called and asked about the report, we were told the person who does the report, that her husband was very ill and she was behind. But, they would get the report out. We waited another week (still leaking 300 gallons per day) and finally we called again. We were told they had couple of workers sick, etc. and were very far behind. We stated that we had been charged and had not received the report so that we could address the problem. We pushed and finally received a call stating they had sent an invoice (which they already had charged) and the report but it bounced back to them. They apparently had the wrong email, even though their work contract came to the right e-mail. I was told they had person who made a lot of typos. Too many excuses for a big company! They did indeed have our phone number. It is clear we would have just been sitting here for who knows how long without the report. We believe they did in fact find the leak, so kudos there! But we needed the report to pursue jackhammering out our newly paved spa deck and coping. Two weeks leaking equals 4200 gallons of water. We will not proceed with ALD to make any necessary repairs and now with the report in hand can pursue other contractors.

Responsive, fair priced, accurate in finding the leak and very nice customer service - what more can you ask for? American Leak detection came out to find my main water line leak within 24 hours and their competition called me 3 days later and quoted much higher prices.

My pool has cracks in the pool and a water leak above the pool. Inspector said there was no leaking in the pipes. The repairs are very expensive so I contacted 5 different pool repair places who all came out and said there were leaking pipes. I called American Leak Detection to relay what the repair people told me and today either the local owner/manager in San Jose called me and said there is no way his inspectors were wrong and he wants the names, numbers and licenses of every repair person who went out there. He was agressive and agitated on the phone with me. I told him I did not appreciate the tone he was using with me and that I was replaying what five unrelated repair then he just hung up on me! Really professional.

I received $1000. water bill form San Jose Water CO., I didn't have the money and didn't know what to do, I rent alone, and didn't need any problems that could cause my rent to be higher than it is, because of water leaking in the house. I have been renting for 20 years the same house and am 75 years of age on a fixed income, so you can see how scary this was for me. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, hard to find another home for them.

American Leak Detection CO., this company step up to the plate and came out this week, two days before Christmas and found my problem within 20 mins.; the money I paid to this company was so little, compared to the thousand-dollar water bill and climbing, I would have to pay the next payment to the water company. The water Company gave me to the end of Dec. to pay up.

Now with the report from the American Leak Detection, I can present it to the water company and hope the water company will work with me on the cost of the loss of water.

The Technician was great, he was kind and thoughtful of my floor and home. I am so grateful to American Leak Detection for making me feel safe and putting me back in control of my life. I cannot thank this company enough. 10 Stars and Thumbs up.

Since I bought my house 5 years ago, I always have to patch around the skimmer with putty to stop huge water loss. I contacted American Leak Detection to find out if there is any other leak elsewhere and what I can do about the skimmer. In less than an hour, I had all my questions answered and get a solution to my problems.

American Leak Detection is a family business. I called Shelley, the owner's wife, on the phone to ask questions and schedule appointments. She is very polite, efficient, and a very nice person to talk to. Bill the owner came to check the pool thoroughly for leaks and explained what the previous owner had done to the skimmer and why it constantly has problems. He also pointed out a mystery hole in my pool and tried to find its connection. I didn't care about this hole because it was not leaking. Bill told me that it could be an overflow hole connected to a wrong place like the bottom of my house. I appreciate this extra piece of information very much and will definitely watch for this hole during the raining season.

I had pleasant conversations with Bill and learned quite a few things when he was checking leaks. Naturally I asked if he can rebuild the skimmer. He told me he can refer me to someone else or he can help in a week or two but not right away. I never felt the pressure to buy extra service from him or his wife.

About the price, they have the best leak detection quote. I am thankful to have such great professional service with an affordable fee. I am looking forward to seeing Bill again for the skimmer rebuild and will update my review then.

10/30/2019 - UPDATE for the skimmer rebuild:

In his last visit, Bill explained to me that because my skimmer was embedded in a huge concrete block, the weight of the concrete pulled the skimmer away from the pool and created big cracks in the tunnel. Today he came to drilled open the concrete and sure enough the skimmer was totally surrounded by it! It amazed me that he could guess what the previous owner did by just observing the appearance and location of the cracks.

Bill spent hours to drill and remove the old stuff and put new pipes and a new skimmer in. It was all hard work but he did it very efficiently. He also made sure that the skimmer was leveled, unlike previously it was bulit crooked. The contrast of before and after pictures is astonishing.

I just had American leak detection come out to one of my clients properties to find an irrigation leak. It was well over an acre and had very old plumbing running through the landscape. Their technician Kerry showed up on time. He was very professional and explained the process he was going to use to locate the leak. After about an hour of probing and searching he located the leak with certainty. I would definitely recommend using this company to any of my clients family or friends.
