I called Amy at AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION in San Rafael and explained I had a very small leak after the earth quake and I needed an experienced service man that could find it. She said her man would be out @ 1 PM. Greg Rogina arrived 2 hours late @ 3 PM and I being plumber by trade showed him how I had isolated the leak which is very small ( 5 lbs per 2 hours) on my copper hot water line. He again isolated the hot water line and examined all the hot water valves under the sinks with an sound amplifer leak detector. It took him all of 10 minutes then informed me there was no leak as in the 25 minutes he was here his gauge did not drop. I requested he pressure up the system with gas or air to 20 lbs more than my existing (40 psig) pressure and check with his sound system again. He refused. He wanted me to accept an invoice for a discount of $50. and charge me $295. for the 35 minutes he was on site. No way that was acceptable.

This company advertises a charge of $125 per tank of tracer gas so one assumes they would drain the lines and charge up the piping with tracer gas and find the leak.

No way he was going to do that. He wanted $295. for 35 minutes of work. I called his boss Sean @ 415-883-1690 who claimed that I cursed his employee and hung up on me. Greg had already left.

There must be someone out there that can located a leak in domestic water system.

American Leak Detection was great! Our water bill was $477 in March and technician Greg Rogina had the leak identified in about 30 minutes. The process for setting up the appt. is smooth and professional, and the technician is very courteous, friendly and efficient. ALD does a thorough job and is very pleasant to work with.

Being excellent isn't just about doing the job and moving on - it's about customer service. I did have some confusion between my plumber and what American Leak Detection had originally noted on their report. I'm A Gen. Contractor that also does plumbing. I have a customer that has a huge water and Gas bill. I checked the water meter and the diamond was spinning quite fast with everything shut down in the home. This is an Eichler slab on grade home. I knew it was a slab leak! I set up and appointment and had to cancel. Amy was very kind about this and rescheduled this morn. A squared away young Man named Mike showed up. In no time He located the leak within 1 "" of where I found it. If You have an Eichler, You will need these folks at sometime . I've never dealt with such Proffesionalism in a Buss.

Thank you American Leak Detection. Michael diagnosed my water leak problem and fixed it all in the same day. He was kind, helpful and very efficient. After our water bill suddenly tripled, and a check of our irrigation system proved negative, we called ALD and found out that a neighbor's tree roots had damaged our water main. Anthony from ALD came out to our house on short notice and did a super job fixing this major leak. He showed up on time, explained everything he was doing and the damage that he found, and made sure that we saw the fixed pipe before re-cementing it. Anthony also made sure that the water fixtures inside and outside the house were working correctly and at proper pressure. We had an excellent experience with this company and would recommend them to anyone with a leak problem.
