The origins of American Home Handyman go back to the conclusion of World War II when Frank Laero Sr. leveraged his GI Bill following his time in service in the US Navy to learn about the trades of carpentry, plumbing, and electricity.

In the 1960s, Frank would take his sons to help him in servicing customers during evenings and weekends to boost his earnings. With a family of six to support, the additional income was invaluable. Frank's expertise and commitment to service earned him the admiration and loyalty of his clientele.

In 1978, Jim, Frank's eldest son became the leader of the company, and by 2003, Jim rebranded the company to the name we know today, American Home Handyman in tribute to his father's love, dedication, and service to the nation. He served honorably in the Navy during the Second World War. Frank went to rest in 2016, but the values of honor, integrity, and sincerity he embodied live on in the work we do.

James Laero brings over 30 years of experience in the construction trades. Besides his field expertise, he was a customer design representative at a leading design remodeling firm ranked among the top 100 in the country and with one of the Pittsburgh Business Times' Top 100 Fastest Growing engineering and architectural firms.
