Found the company on NEXTDOOR- fantastic!!
Called AVP in the morning- spoke to owner within 30mins and had two guys out in the afternoon. Small project with stubborn faucet replacement, but the guys were very professional at very reasonable cost. Given the quick response time and affordability, I won't hesitate calling them for any and all future problems!

I had a water main leak. Almaden Valley Plumbing had a good rating so I called them on the morning of March 21, 2017. I was told by their service that someone would call me right back-- never happened. So, in the afternoon I called back a second time and I was told that someone would call me right back-- and again, I never got a call back. No one needs a contractor like this....

Called Mike due to a referral. He was more than fair, gave an idea of possible costs before he even came over, and was on time. If/when my water heater breaks again, I'll be giving him a call. FYI - Cash/check only

Very responsive and professional. They did a very good job, quick and clean. Highly recommend them. Thank you Mike.

So round and round we went! Leak in the floor under the concrete what mess. We were so unsure repipe the whole house fix the leak start the job stop the job omg.
Mike had a lot of patience to deal with this situation and finally after a decision was made we went with mike and the partial repipe . He did a great job and got in and out in great time . Having to deal with me and my dad and my son all in his ear he still was calm.
After all is said and done great job , clean up , ceilings look great all water working again !! Great Warrenty and the story ended happy happy happy !
Thank you again Mike

HORRIBLE - I am still shaking my head in disbelief. I called to see if they installed sump pumps - I was told that they did for $4,800 but then said ""there is no way he was going to do it now as he did not want to get muddy under the home"" he then went on to say most likely he was not interested - I asked him if an almost $5,000 was ""not interesting"" he said that he has a right to ""refuse service"" and I ended the call stating that I hoped he never needed work and he hung up on me :(

We used Mike and his team for a pretty major job - water was collecting under our house due to a leaky and old pipe. Before he could come in and replace the pipe, we had to call a water damage company to come in and suck out all the horrific and very smelly water. They then had to dry the crawlspace and add new top soil. Mike recommended an excellent company to do this - Water Damage Recovery in Oakland. After Water Damage Recovery finished their job, AVP came in and worked non-stop to get the job completed. His price was good, he was professional and friendly and I really appreciated him referring me to the right water damage company. I will use AVP for ANY problems that may arise in the future.

I had a very minor leak in one of the bathroom flush valve and a slow flush problem in another bathroom . Saw the review on yelp and mike came down next day. He took hardly 20 mins and both toilets were back in action . Also Mike seemed to be a good guy.

Mike has been very helpful over the past 6 months we've needed a number of things fixed or replaced and I just haven't had the time to do them myself, so it was time to call in a professional. On one occasion he made a no-charge visit to our house when we had a water heater problem to check and see if things were ok and if there was any quick fixes. Ultimately we had to replace the water heater and fix a broken pipe in the wall. Although Mike didn't do that job he did help ensure we didn't have any additional water damage during that visit.
We've used AVP to fix leaking shower faucets (replacing the valves), replace a dead in-sink garbage disposer, and most recently to redo a water main shut-off and replace a sprinkler feed line under the house. Mike showed up about when he promised and his guy did a nice job with replacing and securing the new pipe and hose bib fittings. About the only complaints I have are he forgot to turn the water main (at the street) back on when they were done and they left a bunch of copper fittings when they finished.
Pricing was reasonable, although a little more than I had expected to move the pipe under the house, but other plumbers I spoke with didn't want to deal with the crawl space so at least the job is done and done well.
Mike's a nice guy and when you speak with him you don't feel like he's suggesting any unnecessary work or over-charging you.
We'll keep using AVP for any future plumbing needs. He's local for us (we live in Almaden), he does quality work, he's usually available within a day for routine stuff and is reasonably priced.
Thanks Mike and keep up the good work.

We've had two less-than-ideal interactions with Almaden Valley Plumbing.
(1) A few years ago, based on positive Yelp reviews, I asked Mike to come out to my parents' house to fix a leaky bathtub faucet. He was friendly and took about 30 minutes to repair the faucet. Since we were paying him for an hour of his time, we asked him to take a look at our brand-new Grohe kitchen faucet which had been installed a few months prior---the pull-out spray head was not retracting properly---but he said he didn't have time as he had to get to another job. While it's perfectly understandable that he may not have had enough time to fix it right then and there, it was disappointing that he wouldn't even take the time to look at it since we still had 30 minutes left on the clock.
(2) Cut to today---my parents' bathtub faucet is leaking again, so I decided to give Mike another call since he continues to get positive reviews on Yelp. When I called the number listed above, a woman answered and asked me to hold. After ten minutes of being on hold, I hung up and called back, asking if I could just leave my contact info and have her call me back when she was free. Her response was a rude, irate ""How can I help you?"" Surprised at her hostile tone, I asked, ""I'm sorry, are you angry with me?"" She responded with a louder, even more seething ""How can I help you?"" so I gave up, responded with my own sarcastic ""Thanks for your help, but never mind"" and hung up.
Probably for the best, since we now have an appointment with a plumber recommended by Pacific Sales. And he was polite and professional on the phone! (Although, to be fair, Mike has always been polite and friendly as well)
