Mark C.Had AIRCO replace 2 HVAC systems after getting 4 bids. Not the highest, but not the lowest. Found Drakes explanations of the work, options and the detailed quote very acceptable.
Gents who came to do the work were quick, professional, clean and efficient.
System have been operating well in both heat and cold for 10 months.
Very satisfied and highly recommended.
So I needed a new hot water tank. I went to Lowes to see what they had and they offer 'installation' - which just leads to an interaction with Airco.
The rep. flat out lied to me telling me they would have to replace the exhaust vent all the way to the ceiling because it was 'single wall' pipe. The vent pipe was already double-walled.
Their $2,900 estimate for an installed new hot water tank was absurd.
I didn't want to install one myself (I'm 60), but those prices were highway robbery.
I managed to buy a tank from Lowes (with a 12 year warranty), brought it home, and installed it for WELL under $1,000 total. The wife is really happy we didn't have to shell-out $2,900 for the job.
Trust is important. I cannot recommend Airco for anything.
I called them at 8 am on a Friday for an AC unit that stopped working the night before. I was told ""emergency service"" will be on Sunday for double charge, or regular service next week. I told them it's not working now and their website says ""same day service"" he said ""not when its 99 degrees out"". Apparently they only honor their promises in the winter when AC units don't break. Promises made, promises broken. Find another place, which I did.
This company is Horrible!!! Do not hire them!! My neighbor behind me needed work done on a pipe. I woke up finding airco taking down my fence and digging in my yard. They then told me they needed to attach his pipe to the main. Well, they proceeded to dig up 10 feet of dirt and place that mound in the middle of my yard. Then it rained for days. When they came to cover the whole their back hoe got stuck and the guy ended up digging up 1/3 of my yard. It's almost to my patio. Now I have a huge low area collecting rain on the sod I had to fight them for. They are refusing to level the area and re Sod. I shouldn't have to be out any money. I didn't destroy my yard, they did!!!
They were professional on the phone, pleasant and competent when they performed the job. I'm aware of the vendor cost for parts, but also realize that a company has overhead and the right to make a profit. They quoted the price and did the job.
called these folks up almost 5weeks ago as i had water line issues from the bout of winter weather they said they were gonna send a plumber to my house on a sunday to get me going. sunday comes plumber shows up with no helper and says im just here to do a estimate which is gonna cost a$100 okay cool they set up to do the work 3weeks later originally they tell me theure sending a different plumber than the one that did the estimate called up twice hey is the price i signed for gomma be honored by this plumber yes they say then they say now were sending the original plumber that did the estimate the morning the plumber is supposed to come they say were now sending a different plumber they also said you will have running water by the end of the day you will not pay more than $950 and we will not tell you that were to busy to do the work. plumber shows up and works for about a hour the guy didnt wanna work and then calls the office to say there is too much work that needs to be done for the price we were quoted so then management says to stop honoring the contract and start charging time and materials and when we said we were calling the office to speak with management the guy decided he didnt wanna work no more and packed up and left because he could not fit under my house. so i call im and speak with jessica in management and she fed this crock of shit that i have too many leaks and the plumber could not get to them well i new i had leaks and airco new i had a trlr house why would they send someone out that couldnt do the job. so then she doesnt wanna answer questions because im catching her in bullshit lies so she then tranfers me to charles the head of plumbing management and he tells me i need a repipe whoch is what i told them from beginning and i had tried to explain to jessica but she didnt wanna listen so charles tells me he is personally coming to my house monday morning to do a estimate okay cool monday comes around and they sent the same lazy idiot out to do the estimate i call charles on wensday as i have not heard a word from anyone at airco on this no answer no returned phone call thursday morning i call back he answers and gives me thos sad story on why he hadnt sent the estimate to me and that he was getting the financing folks to get everything together to get me financing because they wanna be my go to company. financing folks call me up do my application and that evening call me to tell me that because my credit score was not over 650 none of the banks they work with will finance me. so when i tell kyle from financing thanks for another bullshit lie from airco he said to me would you lile me to have management call you to discuss this no because your management set all this shit up and bragged about how this company would do everything umder the sun to get this job going and so after 5weeks of lies and runarounds and $750 wasted with these folk i still have not heard a word on how theyre making things rite and getting the work done they promised to do!!!!!! so if ya wanna be lied to cheated on and ripped off thos is the company for you!!!!!!!
I purchased a maintenance agreement last year. When they came out for my heating unit maintenance the guy(a) who they sent was obviously looking to sell me a new unit rather than service my existing unit. He (a) fumbled around for a while, not really doing anything then he came in and said that he couldn't do the maintenance. He called another guy(b), (the salesman) to come over and pitch me. While waiting on this other guy(b) to arrive, he(a) went to my unit and disconnected the natural gas and unplugged the unit. Then he(a) came and told me he was going to have to shut it down for a carbon monoxide leak. The other guy(b) arrived to backup his(a) decision and then pressure me into buying another unit. I advised them both that I was not interested in a new unit. They kept hemming and hawing around, I guess trying to figure out why their well planned sales pitch wasn't working on me. Finally, I told them ""I'll walk you to the door"" and had to get behind them and move them to the door. LOL, I guess they just liked being around me and didn't want to leave (sarcasm). By the way, I have a carbon monoxide alarm (new) and it had not gone off. I called and reported the incident and asked for a refund...(yeah, right). Several days later the office lady called back and said they don't do refunds but would work something out on a new unit. I happily told her I had already purchased a new unit. LOL, but still ""NoRefund.""
Great service technicians! Tyler, Shawn, Taylor, & Bryce were very courteous and very friendly. They did everything I asked of them with a great attitude and willingness. Tyler was very knowledgeable and discussed every obstacle we encountered with me and options on how to solve the issues. The guys worked very hard each day while at my house. I have a 100 plus year old house that required lots of retro fitting of ductwork and equipment. Rick that did the job estimate was also very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful throughout the entire process too. I can't say enough good things about my experience with this company. I highly recommend them. Thanks to everyone that worked on my job.
Yvonne S.I called late Saturday afternoon with a furnace problem and Duane was at my house early Sunday morning to fix the problem. The timing was perfect as we are expecting an Arctic cold front to move in tonight. Duane was amazing, very professional, knowledgeable and thorough assessing the problem. He took the time to explain how our furnace worked, as it is 33 years old and no longer available. He even explained what caused the problem and showed me how to fix it myself if it happens again. At no time did he even mention buying a new unit. I was also pleased he was wearing a mask and followed Covid-19 precautions. I will definitely call them again and request Duane. I'd give him 10 stars if I could.
Our furnace stopped working and we called Airco for help. Repairman said that the control board was bad and that it would need to be replaced.
He then spent most of his time trying to convince me to replace the whole system, rather than fixing it. Our system isn't new, but it isn't exactly old and falling apart, either. We've had very few issues with it but he didn't want to hear this at all. Despite my repeatedly stating that this was the only major problem we've had and finally stating that a new system was just not going to be in our budget for at least a few more years, he continued to fearmonger that it was probably not just the control board and that we really need to just replace the whole system. What he based this on, I have no idea.
We agreed to just do the control board replacement and were given a quote of over $600. The reason for this price, we were told, was the high cost of the part. I did a quick search on my own and found a brand new control board for $50 on Amazon from a 5-star marketplace seller. I then declined service from Airco, paid for the estimate and resolved to fix the furnace myself.
We ended up installing the part ourselves in a little under 30 minutes and now the system is working perfectly, with no other issues at all. Total cost - $79 for the diagnosis, $50 for the part, 30 minutes of effort. Unbelievable that anyone would think it acceptable to charge over $600 for that service. I realize the cost of labor is high, but come on!
Never, ever, ever calling this company again. They are far more interested in selling new systems than in servicing older ones.
For the record - our heating system is 16 years old and is a model that typically lasts 20-30 years, with proper maintenance, which ours gets.
Update: Austin from AirCo called me after seeing this review to attempt to harass me into taking this review down. He was very condescending and would not address the issue of the inflated repair estimate, just deflected over and over again to the supposed poor condition of the unit.
