For anyone reading - the response from the business owner that was written this year - and LONG after the incident, replaced a post he originally left in which he attacked me personally. Perhaps that cost him some business or he saw the positive reviews on my post - but this new post appears to be nothing but damage control.
Dan is the guru of all things plumbing! He and his crew did an excellent job installing a new sewage line in our house.
Dan is absolutely the best! He was the ultimate stand up guy when the manufacturer of my 75 gallon water heaters had a rash of warranty issues. He came back repeatedly to remove and replace these beasts in tight quarters and up a stairwell. He did a few extras for me that he did not need to do and was friendly and conscientious the entire time. Dan knew I was selling my house and it needed to be done quickly. He really came through. I can't recommend AHS Plumbing more strongly. I just hope I can find a plumber even close to being as good where I'm moving.

Dan came out to address a toilet issue in September. It was a basement toilet that is rarely used. He informed us that ""emergent"" work needed to be done for $980. Unfortunately we believed him and the total bill for all of the work he did for us was $1645. The very next time the toilet was used (~2 months later) water leaked out of the bottom of the toilet. When we addressed this with Dan he told us he had not done work in our house since 2005. When we showed him a picture of the itemized invoice he tried to tell us that this was an unrelated issue and it would be another $175 to fix. He was nice enough to offer a slight refund from the original job, but rescinded this offer shortly after we accepted it and informed us that our business with him is over. This was the FIRST time the toilet was used since he did his ""emergent"" work but somehow it's not related? I wouldn't trust this guy to clog my toilet much less fix it. Thankfully we were able to easily find another local company to come in and fix his shoddy work.
When I left this review with the better business bureau his response was to question my intelligence and inferred that I was ""off my medications"", similar to how he responds to all of the other negative reviews. He laughed at me describing it as an ""emergency"" even though we still have the text chain with him where he claims ""leaving our ejector pump plugged in and running is unsafe....we strongly recommend changing out the ejector pump today or tomorrow to avoid flooding with sewage..."" That sounds like an emergency to me, how bout you, Dan?
Neal B.Dan from AHS is amazing to work with. He is very professional and has tons of experience. We had a plumber come out before we called AHS. The other plumber had no idea what he was talking about and we would have done unnecessary work. After AHS came out, Dan was able to spot the problem within minutes. He explained the problem and how they were going to fix it. I couldn't have had a better experience. I would recommend them to anyone. They have a customer for life!
I've spent several thousand dollars with Dan over about a 10 year period. Never had an issue until now. The following took place over the last two weeks of Feb 2018. Called Dan on a Monday to schedule an appointment. He said to text him my info and he would reply with a confirmation. He confirmed Wed 3-4pm. I took the day off from work and waited but he never showed. I was thinking maybe he meant next Wednesday.
I called him the following Monday and he had no clue who I was talking about. It sounded like he was looking through an apointment book and he said he didn't have anything listed for me. I replied that I had the texts and he should too. He asked me to tell him what the issue was again and when I said it was the leaking water line shutoff valve then he remembered me. He apologized and said let's try for Wednesday again. I asked if I should text my info again. He said no he was going to write it down right now. So I repeated my info and he confirmed he would see me on Wednesday 1-2 pm. I took another day off work and waited but he didn't show up. I could't believe it. So here we are a week later and I'm guessing he has no idea he blew me off again. I don't know what's going on but something's not right.
I've moved on to another service.
Brett E.Dan was amazing. We had just flooded and wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. He was very patient and talked through all of the options, walked through my basement, and came up with the solution of an overhead sewer conversion. He was timely, thorough, pointed out other things that made sense to fix in the process. I also had him change out our disposal, replumb our sink, and reconfigure our laundry tub. Would absolutely consult him again. Honest and work was excellent!
Steve F.Our sump pump empties into a pipe that is *supposed* to go to the city storm sewer. It was clogged, so I had AHS come out to rod it. Well, it turned out to be a huge mess. The people who installed it in the 1970s did it ALL WRONG!
Fortunately, I was able to work from home on these days, and Dan was able to show me exactly what was going on. He had an awesome device that not only shows the inside of the pipe, but also lets him track its location from above ground. The underground pipe took a right turn into the neighbor's yard, under their driveway, and into the *next* neighbor's yard, before hitting a blockage.
After talking over a variety of options, I decided to have it fixed right (running a new line to the street). Yes, it was expensive, but reasonable for the work they did. My main point is that he laid out the different options and made his recommendation. He didn't pressure me, saying that he would do it however I wanted. He knew his stuff, and the work was top-notch quality. Even the city inspector pulled me aside and told me that Dan and his crew is known in the area for doing the job right.
Christine B.We had a leak in some very old copper pipes in our basement. Dan from AHS was prompt, courteous, and honest. He did an awesome job correcting the problem. His explanation of other possible problems was great . I appreciate his professionalism. Great job!
3 times I have called AHS Plumbing.
I have an Angie's List account, so my first time calling was because of the great ratings I saw.
1st time, I needed my bathtub drain routed or rooted... There was hair from women showering for 6 moths.
The next time, a toilet in the same bathroom needed to be replaced.
The final time, AHS Plumbing spent an ENTIRE day at my house extracting pipes through the wall, replacing those pipes, and essentially reconstructing our bathroom(origin:1930) piping so that it works wonderfully today!
Dan, who is the owner, was always present and communicating with us, and the men who work for him have been consistent, dedicated, and courteous.
AHS Plumbing has been a great experience, and EXTREMELY cost effective.
Thank you Dan!
