Affordable Plus Plumbing
Company Overview
Faucet service, garbage disposal repair, clog clearing. No remodeling. I gained experience at a plumbing company in my hometown of Cliffside, N.J., mastering the trade and materials. I achieved my training and licensing in 1980 to begin my own plumbing company. I started my business with a van and a collection of tools, delivering repairs to the local community. I dedicated myself to establishing connections with clients and suppliers to provide a better future for my 6 kids and wife. I moved forward to bring on a young technician and mentor them, eventually bringing on as many as 6 technicians, with 3 now starting their own companies. I dedicate my business on loyalty, fairness, and offering my prices better than the competition. I now have nine kids and seven grandkids, and I hope to leave them with a meaningful legacy.

Great company! We were lucky enough to get these guys from our home warranty company to replace our monster of a water heater upstairs in our attic. First they had to take out the 80 gallon beast - from an opening that was too small. With a little work, they did it. And replaced with the new 80 gallon tank. Richard, the "boss man" was both very knowledgeable and amusing, and his crew were great. I would definitely recommend them anytime. Thanks.

This company was available same day after home warranty assigned another company that we never even heard from. These guys are so sweet and professional and it's not often you'll find a company that seems to really care about people. I will use these guys again for sure!

I was referred to Affordable Plus through my Old Republic home warranty - Old Republic left me in a horrible jam when they made me wait days to get my service started only to tell me at the last minute they wouldn't cover my leaking pipe - I was so angry, but the silver lining is that I found a really great plumber! Richard from Affordable Plus was quick, really nice, and did great work. He did a beautiful repair on my old rusted mains pipe - most plumbers would have just said the whole thing needed to be replaced, but he did the plumbing equivalent of transplant surgery to fix the problem, and now I have all the information and time I need to plan (and save) for a mains replacement in a non-emergency context. He even left my lawn spotless! I couldn't be happier and will definitely recommend.

I also used this plumber because of my old republic home warranty. i told them i needed help asap. Then they came to my house and found the problem, but told me they did not have time to help me for several days. It was very inconvenient, and i don't believe they were being honest with me.

Affordable Plus Plumbing is now my plumber! I had a different company throw me into shock when they gave me a quote for a few things I needed done for a small remodel. Affordable Plus charged 45 PERCENT LESS than the other company! Anthony was professional, courteous, and efficient. They were also very responsive when I called them previously to repair a leak I had. Richard (the owner) actually gave me some tips to try over the phone to completely avoid the cost of a service call. I still needed them to come out, but, again. GREAT service! CALL THEM!

I would give this company 0 stars if Yelp would let me. Let me start by saying that I am not a plumber, I am pretty handy, but I am no plumber. My project was to upgrade the dishwasher. Simple, until the hot water shut off valve under the kitchen sink broke. I shut off the water at the meter and took off both valves (why not replace both 14 year old valves while I'm at it, right). These were compression valves, not threaded or soldered. I picked two 1/4 turn valves up at HD and tried to match them up. The ferrule on the pipe was set back too far for the new valve to screw right up, and it wouldn't budge. Knowing that I reached the end of my abilities and not wanting to bugger up the pipe trying to take it off, I called a plumber. These jokers showed up the same afternoon, which was awesome. The plumber had a strong NE accent and toted around a young Texan helper. I told the guy my situtation and how I didn't want to create more work by giving it the old college try. I had two new valves, and already hooked up the dishwasher and sink line to a new T so he could just put the new valves in and be golden. He used his own, mismatched, parts (allowing me to return $20 in HD parts), but the cold water was a fancy 1/4 turn valve and the hot was the old style, multi-turn valve, simply because it was a dual outlet valve. He criticized me because I offered that T as a simple solution to the single outlet valve I wanted on there. He hooked it up and it worked! Great. A 20 minute job, exactly what I was hoping for. BUT, he decided he wanted to hook up the dishwasher to the tap. Since it wasn't in his scope of work, I suggested I would take care of that. He said he could do it, and then proceeded to crossthread the plastic supply connection on the unit. I noticed it when I was sitting at the kitchen table, hoping he would catch it before he turn the water back on. NOPE. All he did was give me the evil eye and a condescending response when I told him it was crossthreaded. Water gets turned on I mentioned that it was leaking. He didn't believe me, I told him again, more forcefully, that it was leaking and flooding the kitchen. He had to put his eyes on it before he cut off the water. He then blamed it on the fitting, that it was junk, and insisted that it was not crossthreaded. WRONG, the fitting was brand new, out of the box that HD sold with the unit. What was junk was the installer. At that point my patience was thinning and I explained that I know what crossthreading looks like, and that it was indeed crossthreaded. I told him I would finish the install and clean up his mess which took two bathtowels. I did get a handshake and a fake smile when I signed his workorder.
Point being, this guy/company needs a lesson in customer service. You expect a professional when you're paying the bill. When you get less than par, attitude and a partially flooded kitchen, expect me to give that attitude right back. Remember, you're in MY house and I'm the customer. I'll be nice, courteous and respectful up to the exact point when I don't have to be. Needless to say, I still don't have a plumber I trust and will not go back to this company.

Apparently they are contracted with Old Republic Home Warranty and were scheduled to re-connect my newly replaced pool heater between 9 and 10 am. At 9:11 am I went to put a note on the front door to let him know to knock on the door if I didn't hear the door bell, to find his card in the door. I immediately called his mobile number listed on the card (9:12 a.m.) and apologized for not hearing the doorbell. He said that it was too late and that he was leaving town. I asked him to please come back since it was my daughters birthday the next day and she was having a swimming party and the pool was 60 degrees. He said, "I'm not going to argue with you. You can call Old Republic and tell them!" WOW! 12 minutes and he couldn't have even been out of my neighborhood yet...certainly close enough to come back to screw in the two pipes that were already there in order to re-connect the heater to the gas line so we could have heated the pool! It might have taken him a total of 10 minutes to do and I had ALL of the parts already! He was very rude, impatient and I will NEVER do business with them again!

I have used Richard and his "team" for years and they've never let me down. They show up on time and stay within their estimate. Recently, I had to call because the cutoff valve to my house broke - they arrived within 45 minutes. Friendly, clean, high quality and affordable! I frequently recommend them to my neighbors and co-workers. Lori M.

I would not hire these guys again. Terrible service. I hired them 3 times and all 3 times they messed up the day/time and I ended up waiting on them. One time, the work ended up being fine, but price was not, "affordable." Second time, didn't show, fixed a shower leak incorrectly, messed up on the day to come back and redo, and I ended up waiting more than a week for them to, "fix," their work. I tried one more time because their quoted price was good on installing a water softener, and it was worse. They messed up the schedule again, came 4 days later, said they couldn't do it for the price that they quoted, and left without doing any work. Unreal. Terrible.

My warranty company, Allied, originally sent out an incompetent plumber from A Dos Amigos in response to a gas leak found by the city's gas service. I fought with Allied until they reassigned my claim to Affordable Plus Plumbing. This company responded to our claim the same day and came out the next day. The highly knowledgeable plumber that came out determined that there was actually not a gas leak at all! He called the city's gas service and told them his findings and when they came out they confirmed that there was in fact no gas leak. Last night my family was able to take hot showers again for the first time in weeks thanks to this terrific company. I agree with the previous review- this company is fast, efficient, and affordable and I highly recommend them.
