Seth C.I cant give zero stars. our unit went out. called them first. the ""technician"" said we needed a new unit. he told us that it was leaking oil and that was the root cause. said it would cost between 2-6k, tried to sell us on 6k unit most. called a second guy and he said our unit shouldn't be leaking oil and it appears that the oil was poured on. he said all he needed to fix was the fan, total charge including labor $150. either action is hiring incompetent people or they have shady practices. after reading the reviews on other websites, I think it's both.
Con artists, pure and simple. More then just dishonest, they actively try and rope you into sales for things you don't need misleading you however they can along the way. They are not even an actual heating and plumbing company, they are an advertising/sales company that contracts everything out, usually to the most unqualified, cheapest labor they can find.
If you have any questions about your furnace or gas appliances/leaks , call Questar first, they will come out for free and do things that action would charge you 100+ bucks for, and actually give you honest information.
Unfortunately I called Questar AFTER I got conned into an $8,000 system, due to a sub-par installation by Action resulting in me having to evacuate my house due to a gas leak. MULTIPLE code violations found with the install that Action performed (which the Questar guy corrected for free). Questar guy even admitted they are known for being a bunch of con artist hacks.
Long story short, I would have been safer with the alleged ""crack in my heat exchanger"" found by Action (which never set off any CO alarms in my house, and probably didn't actually exist) then i was with the massive gas leak caused by them milking me for 8 grand.
Jodi B.My water heater went out around Thursday (10/16), we didn't realize it was a pilot light issue until Saturday night (10/18). I tried to call the company whose sticker was on the water heater, but they didn't answer their phone, so I called Action Plumbing and Heating because I'd heard their commercials and thought they'd be good. I called them Sunday morning, talked to a Mary and she took down my info and said they'd call me with an ETA when someone could come out that day. I never got a call and so on Monday I called them, spoke to a Nicole, and she told me Mary took down my phone number wrong and since they couldn't get a hold of me they cancelled my appointment! She said she would make a new appointment for Tuesday (10/21) between 11-2 (I told them I needed someone before 5 since my husband leaves for class then, but works from home before that), they took down my husbands info since he'd be the one there and they'd need to call him with the status updates. 11:30 they called to confirm we still wanted them to come and said they'd have someone call 30 minutes before they arrive. 1:19 still no call or person! 1:40 they called and said we are next and that they will call again when someone is on their way. 4:47 called and said they are on their way (gotta give them credit for calling, but everything else gets an F-!!) 5:20 hubby has left for class and now I get to deal with them and the guy shows up. I show him our water heater and he doesn't even look at our pilot light or inspect the unit. He tells me right off that it's an old unit and should be replaced (how the hell do you know that when you haven't even touched it?!). I told him it was expected since a few of our neighbors had to replace theirs. He tells me he can replace it for $1400!! I told him that was above the budget my husband and I agreed upon (because we thought anything over $1000 was ridiculous and joked about that!). He said that gave us a great warranty and be top of the line. I told him we found some online for under $300 and he said that was for a version like what we already had and wouldn't last very long. I told him we only needed something for like 5 years since that's the longest we plan on being here and he finally looked at the unit and said since everything is up to code and he could use it all he could take it down to $1100. I told him that was still above our price range and that my grandma got hers replaced for about $600. He said that doesn't seem possible with a plumber. I told him I'd like to get a second opinion. He said he could give us financing for $30 a month. I told him the end result is still over what we wanted to spend and that I'd still like a second opinion. He finally got the hint and left. What a waste of time this company is and I'm so irritated at their lack of professionalism! I will NEVER use them again and I'm definitely letting everyone I know and the internet about my awful experience. Given what I've read it won't be news to this company!!!
WARNING! I paid these guys $510 to repair two issues I was having. They over charge and when I called because I was still having an issue with the dripping faucet, which I paid to have parts replaced on and still having problems, they wanted to charge me $140 to come out and repair again. I will never use these guys again, dishonest, over charge!
Dustin V.had a plumbing problem call action plumbing jus like we did when they replaced our ac last month. it was a stopped up toilet. the came out and said the will snake it and showed me two different pricing one if the had to do this and one if they had to do this. after 15mins he snaked the toilet and let water run for 20 mins, put his stuff back in the van and came back in and said it will be 537$ i thought that was a lot but i paid. over the weakend i kept thinking this was way way way overpriced so on monday i called 3 other companies and got quotes the highest being 150 and the lowest 137$ thats 400 less then i was charged a loyal repeat customer. do your self a favor and shop around and don't call these guys!!!!!!
Jenn O.ACTION I S A RIP OFF!!
We called action to tune up a 4 year old
A/C unit they said they cleaned it and said everything was fine ...One week later it didn't run .. Another tech came out and said the first tech didn't clean it very we'll .. Worked for 2 days then quit ... A third tech from Action came out and say it would be $2800 to fix it .. Even with the warranty .. Remember it's only 4 years old.. But he also says if I join their yearly service program he could put a New Air conditioner in for only $2800 .. Wow .. Called whipper they fix it for $69.00 .. Action is a Rip off ..save yourself and you money STAY AWAY!!!!
I will not use this plumber again. They are free to come out; but charge an outrageous book rate for jobs. It is better to find plumbers who charge by the hour or your neighbor who can put in the $16 valve.
I bought a water heater from them and had it installed in April. Very expensive but that's my own fault for not checking around for pricing. As part of the price they included a tune-up for a/c and furnace. The a/c tune-up was scheduled for June. It has now been rescheduled by them 3 times. The last reschedule was today and is bumped to August 7th. When I complained that an a/c tune-up isn't going to be terribly useful after the summer heat is over, I was told that they are just trying to help people who haven't had working a/c for 2 weeks. I think this a euphemism for saying that they are taking new business and thus new cash rather than honoring commitments to past customers.
I am disappointed and feel at this point that they are untrustworthy.
DO NOT CALL THESE GUYS IF YOU HAVE PLUMBING PROBLEM!
We paid Action Plumbing $605 to unplug a sewer line at my decease father-in-laws home in Farmington, Utah. They ran a snake down the line and in formed us that the line was plugged with roots and needed to be replaced at a cost od $6,115. They left the house telling us not to use the bathroom until they replaced the sewer line.
We called another plumber to get a second estimate. He informed us that 90% of the older homes in the Salt Lake Valley have root problems, it was a common problem and that our sewer line did not need to be replaced. He ran an auger down the line and cut out the roots and treated the system with root killer. He charged us $225 and we were back in service in less than an hour.
In summary, we paid Action Plumbing $605 for nothing but bad advice and the experience of spending the next 3-days driving to the gas station down the road to use the restroom.
CAUTION: Action Plumbing does not honor their 100% satisfaction guarantee either.
BobbiJo K.Have used them in the past for maintenance - tried to use them for an out of order a/c unit and although I was told it would be same day service, I didn't even get a courtesy call until 36 hours later (after calling twice and finally giving up and using another company). I was then told it would be the next day before someone was able to come out (called Saturday, wanted to schedule for Monday). Poor customer service is something I have no patience for - won't be using them again!
