I wouldn't trust these guys. Right off the bat the guy started telling me that other plumbing parts were shot on items not even connected to the drainage problem I had. Then he gave me a quote for replacing a set of sewer pipes. Not more than an hour into the job, he called and said another pipe needed to be replaced increasing my bill 30%. Of course, it's impossible to know if he was telling the truth as I couldn't crawl under the house to check but it seemed like a typical sleazy salesman tactic. Plastic parts are very cheap so 90% of the bill is labor and they surely didn't spend 30% more time under my house to justify the increase.

I've had these guys to my house 4 times and they've always solved the problem, suggested the best solution and been very efficient. I was really happy with the service. They show up fast and do a great, thorough job.

I decided to wait to see if these guys would come through on their promises before I posted a negative review....but clearly that is not going to happen, so here goes....

I called Action One because I got a discount coupon in the mail. Bad idea and I learned my lesson, because I did not search for reviews first. I had just bought a new refrigerator and wanted to have the ice maker hooked up. I also wanted them to replace a faucet in my shower. The guy showed up and was quite friendly. He went under the house and told me that it looked like I already had a hookup to a fridge icemaker running to my kitchen wall, and I had no idea, because my old fridge did not have one. He was strong and was able to move the new fridge out enough to see behind and...lo and behold...he did not have to repipe anything! So far so good.

I bought a $10 hose from him and he proceeded to attach it to the wall and fridge and made the ice maker work. Yay. Then, he left and picked up the new faucet for my shower at a place nearby and attached it. He told me it cost him $20. I was satisfied with the work, but when it was time to pay, he said, ""I have to go call my boss to get the pricing."" Then he charged me $350!

I don't know anything about pricing, but I paid it although clearly I could have argued, but I did not feel comfortable doing that. When he left, I called Sears, where I had bought the refrigerator and asked them how much it would be to refit my kitchen for the ice maker for the fridge I bought. They said, ""$150."" I said, ""but what if there is already a hook-up there from a previous fridge?"" They said, it would not cost anything. So I had to deal with why Sears didn't even hook it up in the first place (which is another story), but I realized that I got overcharged by Action One. I called the next day, and Steve, the owner, told me he would look into it and call me back the following day. He did not.

I waited another day and called again. He answered and said he wanted to make his customer happy so he would send me a coupon for $150 off the next service call. He was not interested in letting me explain about the issue--he clearly wanted me off the phone....right away. He mentioned that his plumber had actually ""Saved me money"" by ""finding"" the hook up line in the wall. This made no sense. Was he planning to charge me hundreds more if he had to install a pipe under the house? I waited for the coupon in the mail. Nothing.

The following week, a customer rep, named Linda, I think, called me to ask if everything was taken care of to my satisfaction regarding the work of the previous week. I told her that she must not be aware of the fact that I had complained and was waiting for my coupon. She looked at her notes, and said, yes, she was aware. So I asked why no one had bothered to mail it to me. She said she would do so right away and then call me to make sure. I told her that I was considering writing a complaint on Yelp, but that I would wait to see if I got the coupon first. I got nothing. Not even a call. It has been a couple of weeks now, so I don't care anymore and I am just writing this complaint so people are aware of the poor service of this company and beware of them.
I feel that if you complain about their pricing, they just have a mantra that they repeat in order to get rid of you--we will send you a discount coupon--then they don't do it. Clever bit of scamming, because you end up disliking them so much that you probably would not call them again--discount or not!

Reading these poor reviews made me want to step up and say something. My family has been using Action One for 5 years now. They've done multiple jobs on my house, and we've always been very satisfied with the work and the price. The guys that come out to the house are always very friendly, polite, and courteous. We will continue to do business with them for years to come.

Ok...should be 4 1/2 stars. Water heater pilot went out on a Sat. Called 3pm on a Sat and told someone would be there by 5pm same day. Tech showed up 30 min. late...but it was uphill from there. Tech checked out the heater, knew what was wrong with 15 min and replaced a thermal coupler? f that he had in the truck. Heater was 11 yrs old, but there was no pressure to sell a new one. Could not have been more satisfied, except for the 30 min. lateness...but it was Sat and I had just called just 2 hrs before appointment. $99.99 for service call plus $40 parts. Will definitely use again.

I wish I had seen these reviews before calling this company. They charged $615 to unclog the toilet, two days later flood in the restroom AGAIN, called them and this guy Steve said that he would have to charge us another $150 to use a longer snake. We said NO WAY then he wanted us to pay for the visit. REALLY? They don't do their job properly and want us to pay twice? Had to call another plumber to fix the problem.

I have been trying to get my water heater repaired under warranty for over 10 days from tis company. My family is still using cold water to shower. You draw your own conclusion.

Hot water back on as of Friday the 10th. Parts were unavailable for another six weeks. They replaced the entire water heater. Quality of work done to replace the heater was good. once they were able to get the correct replacement, job was completed quickly.

WHY did I not look at Yelp before calling these guys. Just dropped $100 for him to come out but the quote was so high for repairs that I couldn't get them done. $100 down the drain. NO pun intended. :(

Only use these guys if you're doing an undercover, investigative report on bad business practices or terrible customer service. After the work was done, the bill was $150 more than the quote. Upon further inspection, instead of using new parts that were quoted because of the need to ""get up to code"", the worker had reused some of the old parts. His explaination, ""These will work fine... if the guy that gave you the quote hadn't told you about the code you wouldn't have ever asked about it"".

Summary: These guys will work extra hard to earn their terrible reviews... avoid.
