As a customer of First American Home Warranty Service, Abe Plumbing was dispatched to my house to investigate a faulty water heater. After being in the house for about 90 seconds, and inspecting the water heater (visually) for about 10 seconds, the plumber told me that there were lots of modifications that would be required to replace the water heater that First American would not pay for, and that my ""out-of-pocket"" portion would be $600. He stated that he would need to move the gas line feeding the clothes dryer, and that because it was piped in galvanized, and not copper, he couldn't easily ""sweat"" new fitting. I explained that first, the pipe he was looking at was black pipe, not galvanized, and second, that natural gas was not pipe in copper by CA law. He then altered his narrative to explain that the water heater was failing due to lack of maintenance, and that unless I was willing to pay the out-of-pocket, which he now felt could be reduced to $450, his report back to First American would likely result in the claim being denied since ""I had failed to maintenance the water heater"" (note: I drain the water heater annually, and during the current event, drained the water heater and found only about an ounce of calcium right around the drain valve as I usually do; a pile in the palm of my hand about the diameter of a quarter and half an inch tall), and that there was no way the situation would be getting fixed the same day. In short, this particular technician was deceitful and dishonest, and resorted to scare tactics to extort money from an unknowingly savvy customer who, as a youth, worked in a hardware store for 6 years, and has personally changed half a dozen water heaters, and knows more than the average victim regarding what is required. In short, DO NOT use Abe Plumbing, or allow First American to assign them to your claim. First American can send a different plumber for a second opinion, but doesn't advertise this fact, and you will likely need to demand to speak with a supervisor since the customer service rep is likely reading from a script. In my case, another contractor was dispatched, and is performing the same work for only $125 out-of-pocket for ""modifications"" to cover the cost to re-pipe the T&P valve since my current water heater has the valve mounted on the side, and the new one has the valve mounted on the top. I'm not the first victim, and likely not the last; see Yelp reviews for similar experiences with Abe Plumbing. Perhaps other technicians from Abe are more honest, but the one sent to my house certainly was not.

Very unhappy so far with this company. Horrible customer service. The girl is disrespectful, nasty and rude. What happened to the customer is always right? Then, an appointment was made. He did not show up and lied about calling me. Then, it was rescheduled and he came with no equipment and put me off. Now, he will be coming a week later to do the job. I am most unhappy but since they are with First American, I am stuck. I give them no stars. This company sucks! Stay away from them!

Wow, I wish I had read these reviews before I agreed to use them. It was hard to even find the right Abe's Plumbing to review as they don't have a website and there are others with the same name. This review is for Abe's Plumbing from Lake Elsinore and Norwalk even though they have a 310 number.
I have to use the plumbers that my home warranty company sends - so I've used about 5 or 6 plumbing companies in the last 3 years and am getting pretty good at telling if they are being professional or not.
1. They called yesterday to say their truck broke down and had to reschedule. ... I wonder if they used that as an excuse and may have had a non warranty job that paid more?
2. We rescheduled for today. Marco shows up in an unmarked truck and wearing a white t-shirt, no uniform. I don't care about uniforms etc, but it makes me wonder if they are not licensed to work in my area?
3. Even though Marco seemed pleasant and was very nice, everything he said was negative. He thought he was just there to fix a leaky faucet and the warranty company didn't tell him we had a new faucet for him to replace it with. He said he needed authorization - well of course he does. That's how warranty companies work. He said he didn't want to be on hold with the warranty company. His boss would have to approve it. He would have to come back another day. It just kept on going. I thought he was just unduly worried and assured him that the job would be authorized and I was okay with that and would like him to fix it today. He said if he was on hold for more than 10 minutes with the warranty company he would have to come back another day. By then he was getting on my nerves and I told him that was fine, but if he walked away I would ask the warranty company for a different plumber. Since he had already started the call, I thought he was going to wait the 10 minutes to try and get the authorization, but instead he said that was fine and left.
Little did he know, we have the Platinum plan and all the things he was worried about were not true. The warranty company tried explaining it to me over the phone - that if we had a standard plan that we would have to have a standard faucet put in, not the one we had. But, we don't. We have Platinum and they would have authorized and paid at the Platinum price.
Marco seemed so eager to leave that it makes me wonder if he was double booked or had a better job to go to? ...although that's hard to imagine with all these bad reviews.

Plumbers from Hell. Liars (oh, we left a notice on your door. BS!) Argumentative. Don't keep appointments (we wasted a Saturday afternoon waiting during the 1-5 PM window they gave us--NO SHOW). I called 3 times, left messages twice. They finally called. Three people from their company on different phones talk over each other and me. Rude. Argumentative. Enough said.

DONT USE THEM... ALL THE ONE STAR REVIEWS ARE SPOT ON...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

crappy experience, lots of phone tag, lies, rescheduling, rudeness, etc etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they closed shop soon, it's amazing they are still in business. They definitely don't care about the customer and are not competent enough to schedule an appt and keep their word on arrival window. Only went with them because I was stuck and in an emergency situation to get my water heater repaired. Never again.

I agree with James P., Neira, and all of the other people who gave them 1 star (I would have given them NEGATIVE stars if that were possible). They came out to ""service"" a broken water heater on 8/23/16 and advised that they would need to order a part in order to repair it. Unbeknownst to me, a week passed before they even decided to order the part (after I called to find out what was going on). Again, they knew that there was no hot water, yet they waited a week to even bother order the part. When I called, I told them I would pay extra to have the part overnighted but no one called me back. It is now 9/8/16 and the parts still have not come, nor have they called with an update. At this point, I simply purchased a new water heater.

Oh, and on top of that, their office manager was the rudest, most incompetent person I have ever spoken with. She literally had me on hold for over 20 min while she tried to figure out who was the person who went out to service my place. No apology, no nothing.

Our water heater broke, and abe's plumbing came to replace it through our home warranty company. They did an AWESOME job, and our water heater looks great!! He explained to us everything about the water heater, how to maintain it, etc. I couldn't be happier! Had to make a review because of all these bad reviews
