Active in plumbing since 1979. He earned his Journeyman license in Louisiana in 1985. He moved to Atlanta in 1985 and acquired his Georgia Master license after passing the exam. James and his wife Sylvia returned to the New Orleans area in 1987. In 1992, James took the second exam for the Louisiana Master license and successfully passed. James has done plumbing work for hurricane relief efforts in Texas. In 1993, he passed the Pearl River County Mississippi exam but allowed it to lapse when work was scarce.
