James has been in the plumbing industry since the late 70s. Achieved his Journeyman license in Louisiana in 1985. In late 1985, he relocated to Atlanta and successfully passed the exam for his Georgia Master license. James and his wife Sylvia returned to the New Orleans area in 1987. In 1992, James took the second exam for the Louisiana Master license and successfully passed. He contributed to hurricane relief plumbing projects in Texas. He earned his Pearl River County Mississippi certification in 1993, but it lapsed when job opportunities dried up.
