James has been in the plumbing industry since 1979. Obtained his Journeyman license in Louisiana in 1985. After moving to Atlanta in 1985, he earned his Georgia Master license by passing the required test. James and his wife Sylvia returned to the New Orleans area in 1987. In 1992, he completed the second test for the Louisiana Master license and earned his certification. James has done plumbing work for hurricane relief efforts in Texas. In 1993, he passed the Pearl River County Mississippi exam but allowed it to lapse when work was scarce.
