I give the technician, Adam Barnett, and his crew, 5 stars! However, the problems with communication and incorrect information and documents from the office are what earned 2 stars!

I hired A1 to fix my low water pressure issue. Adam came and gave me estimates that were in my best interest, as he gave me a quote for replacing the main water line and a quote for repiping and he stipulated in the quotes that if the replacement of the main water line fixed the problem, the deposit to repipe would be applied to the main water replacement and the repiping would be cancelled. If I ended up having to do both, he would give me a $500 discount on each.

When the office sent me the docusign contracts, they didn't match the quotes and the estimate numbers didn't match either. I called Adam and explained that I wasn't comfortable signing the contracts that didn't match the quotes. He was very understanding and told me he would contact the office to get it straightened out. He called me and said the office said they had been having trouble with Docusign, which he didn't understand why they would still send incorrect contracts to the customer. Understanding my frustration, he said he would personally print the correct contracts and bring them to my home for me to sign.

Before the appointment we made for him to come over, I found out that the city of Newport News would come out to test if their part of the main water line had low pressure and if it did, they replace it. So I had the work with A1 cancelled. I spoke with Adam and he was very understanding and said he hoped that the city's replacement would solve my problem. He said if it didn't solve my problem, I should call him directly and he would personally bring correct contracts that matched his initial quotes to my house for signature and take the deposits and would do the work himself, so as to avoid any further frustration with dealing with his office.

Adam and his crew did a great job replacing the main water line and because I had explained to him that my insurance would possibly cover the replacement of the main water line, he promised to take pictures and send a report for the insurance. He even showed me the rusty, galvanized pipe they replaced and how it had small pin holes. Unfortunately, as Adam had suspected, it still didn't fix the low water pressure, so we agreed to go ahead with the repiping.

The office sent me the invoice for the main water replacement. Unfortunately, there were errors and no pictures or insurance report. I called them and explained that the invoice was incorrect and that Adam had said he would send pics. They said they would speak with him and send the correct documents and pics. Adam reached out to me and said he was having the office send me the pics and the report for the insurance. Instead of sending those to me, the office sent me an invoice for the repiping (which we hadn't done yet) and no pics or insurance report. I called the office and the person had me on hold for a long time until she transferred me to the account manager who said she would have the invoice for the main water line corrected and resent.

Adam reached out to me to make sure that everything got straightened out and to reassure me that he would be one to collect for the repiping when he completed the work and would make sure the invoice was correct before having me pay so that I wouldn't have to go through this frustration again.

I received the insurance report for the repiping (which hadn't happened yet) and no pics. I told Adam that I was getting a headache! He told me he was talking to them. Then the office sent me the insurance report for the main line replacement, but still no pics. SO Adam said he would send them to me directly. He was very apologetic.

Luckily the repiping went much smoother because not only did Adam do the work, but he took care of making sure all the paperwork was in order before it was sent to me. I honestly would not hire this company again unless Adam was involved and I hope that the office gets it together! I really was impressed by how professional and competent Adam was not only in doing the work, but making sure things went smoothly with the paperwork, which isn't really his job, but he valued me as a customer. He even gave me a credit of $250 because he saw after testing everything on completing the repiping, that there was no need to replace the shower valve.

The work that Adam and his crew did are 5 stars, but the office needs lots of improvement and they get 2 stars.

Not sure why the reviews are a lot lower on Yelp but I had a great experience with A1. Setting the appointment was straightforward. The lady on the phone was nice and I got an appointment with a plumber for the next day immediately. Every transaction you do with them, you get an e-mail or a text message. A1 even texts you a picture of what your plumber looks like so you know exactly who you're expecting which is fantastic for our house that deals with a lot of random solicitors all the time. It's also just a good safety precaution in case you have sketchy people pretending to be plumbers at your time of need. Once the job is done, you get a picture of the repaired job!

Not sure if we just got lucky with our plumber but he was absolutely excellent. Mike Hannan came in to fix a leak under our kitchen sink and we're so glad for him. He was punctual, professional, provided notice ahead of time and gave me an ETA on when he's gonna show up.

He came in with shoe covers which is really polite. He wore them every time he came in and took them off every time he came out even when it was just for a split second. Usually contractors do not care about that and will happily walk their muddy shoes all over your place, but this wasn't the case and I really appreciate it.

Mike was up front with the pricing and was very transparent throughout the whole process about what the potential problem was and what he needed to do to fix it. He went out of his way to describe in detail why said problems causes leaks. He initially thought the leak was a different source and went through the trouble of going to the store to get the parts. But upon, returning he discovered it was something else entirely. I felt really bad that he had gone out of his way to go to the store to get a new supply line but with no complaints at all, he got to working on replacing our piping and didn't even charge us for the supply line he got from the store.

Coincidentally, our dishwasher was also leaking and we didn't know this until Mike pulled it out to start his repairs, though it's not Mike's job to be sorting out our dishwasher issues, he took it upon himself to look into it and plugged back in securely the valve that had popped off. Again, thank you very much Mike!

They do charge a steep upfront cost of 89.99 but that is included in the rest of the plumbing fee after they finish all the work. So whatever price they mention for the work they did includes the 89.99. For all the work that Mike did for us today, he only really charged us $35 in addition to the up front cost. That guy is a gem! And for this kind of service the $89.99 is worth it.

My husband arrived home called number on water heater they ran a diagnostic test gave him an error code he googled the code and bought a 22$ part it arrived from Amazon and fixed the problem
