When we purchased our new AC unit from A#1 two years ago to replace the 20 yr old busted unit we had, we set about to research the best deal. Turns out these guys had the best price, the best financing, best warranty and great customer service. Since the we had to call twice for them to address concerns. The first time was a blocked drain which they fixed quickly. The next time we called it was a 3 hr fix and all was under warranty so we never paid a penny. Both calls resulted in an immediate dispatch of a repairman. They called us back 3 or 4 times to update on the status of his arrival. ( you are next. He's almost finished and he'll be there in one hr. He's on his way. Etc) Never an upscale pitch or any hint that we had done something to void the warranty, like we ALWAYS experienced with the home warranty companies. (Total rip off, BTW. Never buy from American Home Shield or Choice Home Warranties). We really love the service with a smile we get from A#1. Great company. That's why they've been around so long and been so successful.

I hire various trades almost weekly and have for over 10 years in my line of work.
I contacted A#1 Air because I had no one available to service a particular area.
The representative who scheduled my appointment had the pricing way off base for the service I had requested.
The technician, while friendly, was confused in regard to the service requested and recommended a full re-wire of the house.
Once he understood, I was told we could move forward.
I never received a call form the supervisor I was told would be calling me, nor did I receive a call back when I reached out by phone and email.
The only call I did receive was for payment, although the job was incomplete.
Two weeks into this process I sent a final email stating I would not be paying for the incomplete job and needed a supervisor to call me.
I received a call from a customer relations representative advising me they were declining the job.
I have had this particular service completed countless times at various properties and it is not complicated, but they sure made it that way.
I chose A#1 Air as I anticipated quick and competent work.........never again.

Everyone is very nice and try to be helpful but when your ac is out and the house is hot you would like to get it fixed.
I know we live in the big city and there are a lot of people here. We had a 4:30-5:09 appt. after the tech finished his last job he would be over they would give me a 30 min heads up so I was thinking 630-7 at the latest waited till 8 then called and canceled. A call would have been nice to see if it was going to be to late or to see if it would be alright to come tomorrow. I did call twice and we were next never happened. Not mad just disappointed and still kinda of warm in the house. Will try someone else tomorrow.

I quit A1 air due to being way overcharged on a invoice where a
technician talked me into getting some things done. It cost me 2,000
that I am paying out now through Green Sky. These technicians are commissioned based and will try and tell you that you need things done and when I finally got my invoice that I had to request twice, and showed it to two other air conditioner companies, they told me I was way overcharged. The only good part is that this company will come to take care of you at any time of night, but the bad part is they will charge you a lot even if you have their maintenance agreement which I did. I could tell that they do not care if you leave them and the woman only wanted to know what two companies said they overcharged. I would never give them this information. I even purchased an extra
1000.00 worth of warranty that is worth nothing. It is supposed to pay for the materials but the funny thing is I never get anything that shows what the material would have cost and just an invoice showing what I owe.

If I could give negative stars I would. They advertise great customer service but don't follow through. Purchased almost a $7,000 HVAC system from them, salesman sold on their excellent customer service through the whole thing. Well, today the system quit working. Called at 4 o'clock. Said they would get someone here "as soon as they can". Called at 7, was told the same thing. Was informed that meant, "after 10:30." Was called at 9:30 told someone was "finishing up a call and would call me in 20 minutes." Got another call at 11:05 saying they didn't know when someone could get here but would get me "first thing in the morning". Funny thing, wouldn't even give me a time frame of what that meant. All this while it's still over 80 in the middle of the night with an 8-month-pregnant wife. Bottom line, I still don't have a working HVAC system and am still going on the promise that someone will be here "as soon as they can." Let's just say I'm not holding my breath. If I could buy from ANYONE else, I would.

I originally posted a negative review of this company due to a warranty claim with Trane but I am very impressed with how the company rectified the situation. We utilized them for duct cleaning and they did a phenomenal job. Thanks to their response we will continue to use them for our HVAC needs and would recommend their technicians as they are extremely competent.

I don't usually write reviews, and if I do, usually it's because I had a positive experience.

However, I feel I must let others know to PLEASE not take everything this company says at face value. I am 9 months pregnant. Our A/C in our home hasn't worked in a week (and it's been humid and hot...Spring in Texas is not fun).

After having the A #1 Air tech come out and review the issue, he determined that we needed Freon, but that we also had a Freon leak. He then said it'd be pointless to charge up our Freon and tried to sell us an entire overhaul of our A/C and heating system for 10k+!

We thanked him and he left. After discussing further with my dad, we decided to call out our home warranty to see if the issue could be fixed for a cheaper price. Turns out, we don't have a Freon leak at all. We had a broken compressor. Had to pay a 10th of what A #1 Air wanted from us to fix it.

Why would a "reputable" company want to gouge a customer by trying to trick them into getting 10k worth of repairs and updates? Well, it's because they aren't reputable. Snake oil salesmen, the lot of them, and ready to take advantage of a desperate pregnant woman and her husband (except that we are smarter than we look, apparently).

If you DO call them for a quote, PLEASE seek a second opinion.

My 23 year old AC went out this weekend. I knew it was only a matter of time to replace the whole system as the Freon required will soon be phased out. There was no pressure and they offered to send a repair tech but I opted to replace the entire system. I was given 3 options and chose the middle of the road. The system was installed the next day and I couldn't be more pleased. They arrived when they said they would and the time to complete estimate was right on the nose. I appreciate the fact that they always keep you informed. They let you know which personnel have been assigned and they call again when they are on the way. I felt very comfortable during the whole process. Every single person I talked to or met was friendly and professional. It's no fun replacing such an expensive item, but they made it as painless as possible, including many financing options. And they never charge extra for weekends, holidays and late hours! I highly recommend A #1 Air.

Just got a quote to replace the system in my house. Not only was the service tech 2 hours late, the quote I got was extremely rushed and "cookie cutter". Not to mention $4k higher than my Reliant quote. His response to me was " well sorry I came out" ..... that seals the deal for me.

PSA: I will never use this company again. Their Technicians are commission based and will try to over sell you!!!

I am not one to write reviews often at all, however, this is important. Do not fall prey to dishonest sales people.

My wife and and I, who is 7 months pregnant, just moved into our new one a week ago and I was installing my Nest Thermostats. After I completed install, I noticed that the AC setting was also causing the heat pump to kick on. We called A#1 because they had previously come out late at night and we were in the same boat previously.

Our rep, Mike, came out and rewired the Nests so they would function properly and all seemed well. My wife asked him the condition of our system and he told us both units were shot and needed a full replacement before the summer at 14K!!!

He knew that we were new to he home and didn't have much info about the previous care of the units, knew he could rattle my pregnant wife, and took his chance to SCAM us. He informed me we were leaking Freon and once our coils on the units malfunctioned that the whole unit needed to be replaced. As a courtesy, he said he topped off the Freon in our system and left. We were now facing the prospect of new units in a home we just moved into.

I have since had 2 more A/C companies come out, Cool Guys A/C and The Colony A/C, and both have told me that there are currently no issues and no leaks to be found. They also told me that it was very unlikely my Freon was "topped off".

I'm glad there are still honest companies out there, A #1 is definitely not on of them. Your technicians represent your company and what he did was very immoral.

Please do not make the same mistake we did and go with a company that pays their employees by the hour.
