Tried to arrange an estimate visit - twice! Both times, they either forgot or something happened. The owner apologized and said he will contact me back to reschedule, which never happened. I gave up.

UPDATE (re:reply): app has nothing to do with it. I did call you! And you had my phone number. No hard feelings, I'm just trying to be objective. I already hired a different contractor.

A&W was fantastic in advising my situation. Ultimately the timing didn't work for them to replace my toilet, but they still helped me figure out what was wrong, which parts to get to save cash, and how to proceed. I appreciated their responsiveness and willingness to help even when they couldn't meet our timeline.

We have hired Steve a couple times in the past, and he has always done a great job. This time, we called him when we decided to have a water pressure regulator installed on the house. Our pressure was running between 90 and 110 PSI and was causing some ""water hammer"" sounds in one of our fixtures, so we were pretty sure a regulator would help.

Steve did a great job, and it only took him about 90 minutes. And of course, the price was very reasonable. I'm sure we'll call him again the next time we need a plumber.

Steve was great. After contacting two other companies (who couldn't come for 3 or 8 days respectively) to replace my water heater that had a major fail, Angie's list connected me to him through Homeadviser. He called me almost immediately, had me send a picture of the water heater, quoted me a competitive price and showed up in less than an hour. I think I got lucky! Thank you Steve and A & W Plumbing.

Steve came out (I called and he was here within an hour!) and helped with a major frustration we had been having with the gas line to our dryer. It's something my husband had spent hours trying to figure out and had caused him a lot of strife. A different person came earlier and told us that we would have to just buy a new dryer. But Steve completely solved our problem! I wish I would have known to call him in the first place! Now I do, and will(!), with any issue in the future. Steve went ABOVE AND BEYOND in fixing the issue for us. Not only did he do that, but he switched around the washer and dryer so that they were in the correct positions for hooking them up to the right lines (Steve is super strong!) and made sure they were ready to operate before leaving. I know this sounds silly, but it was seriously an answer to prayers! Steve, you have our loyalty forever. I highly highly recommend Steve to anyone and everyone. Absolutely stand up guy. He was so professional, knowledgeable and genuinely kind through the entire process. Thank you so much, Steve!

He came on New Years Eve and returned to finish on New Years Day. Nice demeanor and friendly manner. Worked at SJ Water for 15 yrs. He either does or supervises everything himself. Supply line from street to house had a major leak. Got the job done. I would call him again. Price was reasonable. Feel lucky to have found him. Very reliable, cleaned site after. Cut and replaced sod instead of just leaving a mudhole.

Me and some other folks in our community asked him to install the water softener & RO system. He show up and had everything fully set up/tested in no time.

First of, I do not yelp often but feel like I had to say something here!
This review is more for the quote by email and the after project charge invoice were not matching, There was quite a bit of a delay in getting the work done close to 2 weeks for a gas line to a gas BBQ and a fire pit. Also I should mention that the trench was already dug up so to put a gas line was not a difficult job!
1) The quote through email said to charge 1 hour for the inspection and the cost of the permit but I got charged 2 full hours of inspection ($120/hour) and another 1 hour of inspection (at reduced rate of $60/hr), plus the cost of the permit. This was on top of the actual cost of putting the gas line. I had saved the email just to know that I was not crazy to agree to being charged for all these waiting time, 1 hour is ok, not 3 hours!
2) Also that was not the final inspection, I had to ask my other contractor who did electrical work at the same time A & W Plumbing did my gas line to ask for his own inspector to do the final inspection for the gas work, and I myself had to call in to the city to report the inspection which the city worker who took my call, was surprised that the owner had to call, it was a first for her!
3) I asked if Steve can be at the final inspection then that was when the whole quote of waiting time for inspection, each hour is $120, any additional hours after 2 hours is $60/hr was sent through text, so I decided to not pay him to wait for the final inspection. My other contractor waited for me for free and it was not even his project!

Anyway, if I knew a head of time I had to pay for all the time that the contractor waiting for the inspection to be done, and it was not even done for the final inspection, I would have not hired A & W Plumbing. It was just not professional of Steve! I did get a very lengthy explanation through texts and also promise a wine gift whatever to make up for the charges. I did not care for the wine gift card but even that promise turned out to be empty as well!
Will not use A &W Plumbing again!
It is not just about the money,it is about charging more than the quote and a lofty attitude! Yikes!

Steve Alberg helped me with a water heater replacement and he definitely knows his stuff! Very professional and experienced with his knowledge of plumbing and water heaters. Super friendly, and explains in detail what his findings are..I highly recommend Steve.
