At A&W Plumbing, we prioritize exceptional customer service and fair pricing. Seventeen years ago, I started A&W Plumbing with my best friend and colleague from San Jose Water Co. We dreamed of building a successful plumbing business together. Sadly, I lost my best friend and partner to cancer a few years later. I chose to keep the name A&W Plumbing in his memory and continued to move forward. It’s an honor to have launched A&W Plumbing with him, and I aim to keep our dream alive.
I started working at San Jose Water Company in the year 2000. For 17 years, I balanced owning a plumbing business while serving as a foreman at San Jose Water. I made the choice to dedicate myself fully to A&W Plumbing. With 17 years of plumbing experience from both the water department and A&W Plumbing, I am adept at working on both large and small pipes. As a South Bay native, I value the community and the people I assist. Don’t hesitate to reach out for a free estimate or for some quick plumbing advice.

I have used A&W a few times and have always received excellent service. They respond very quickly, they survey the situation and explain what needs to be done that is very easy to grasp. I like how they give you the choice between a quick fix repair or the long term solution. I had to have half my house repiped and they even hauled away all the old pipe and garbage. I will use them again and recommend them to anyone that need a plumber.
Thank you!
Glenn S.Steve and his partner were very professional fast and courteous I would never use another plumbing company ever again. I was quoted half what 10 other companies quoted me to replace my sewer line. Now after the job completion price doesn't matter to me as much because I know these guys are true professionals willing to go the extra mile to get the job done right the first time
F. Alex A.My outside sewer line was backed up with what turned out tree roots from street side trees. Steve was able to pullout the roots that were blocking the lines way out of my property sewer hole. He ran the snake three times to make sure I am all clear.
michael p.There's a reason for all the 5-stars - Steve and his crew earned them. We had a gas leak caused by a cracked, aged underground pipe. They responded immediately, arriving on the scene within the hour. Steve was friendly, articulate, straight forward and offered a solid, timely solution at a fair price. And, they delivered - quality work process and results. Highly recommended.
Tom S.To keep it short and simple, I am very satisfied with the work performed by Steve and company. From first call, until completion the replacing of my hot water heater was top-notch. I highly recommend them.
We'd been having some toilet backups, and water coming up through our shower. I called Steve on a Saturday, after tying a few other local plumbers, and he told me he'd call back as soon as he was done with his current job. He was true to word, and stopped by shortly after.
He and his partner snaked out our rear clean out pipe (heh), then another cleanup pipe where the problem actually existed. They snaked it 3 or 4 times, changing the heads on the snake to chew threw the roots that had apparently gnawed through beyond our property line. Very thorough work!
Steve left us with some good advice to put in another clean out pipe at the property line, so that when this happens next time, the city will have to come and fix the piping in the street where the roots have taken residence. Otherwise the cost would be on us, and likely run 5-10x as high as just putting in the clean out.
Good, ethical guys, true to their word and thorough. I'll be calling them again to do the recommended work.
Saturday evening we had to turn off our water due to a bad leak on a faucet outside. Fortunately, Steve was able to make it out after his last appointment! Straight to the point, helpful, timely, and fixed leak! Thanks so much for the late Saturday plumbing emergency fix! Highly recommend Steve & A&W Plumbing. Don't yelp frequently but, this was a must to review.
G G.Look no further! My circa 1970 home finally blew the main line to the street. A&W came with in 24 hr. to get our water up and running (it was 9pm when our line broke). Yeay, water! With the major work that needed to be done, (cutting hedges and all) a sprinkler was broken..... and a few 1970 issue's arose. Fast forward to the fixing.... They came the day I told them of the issues to fix the sprinkler, which was bound to happen... but not only that, the 4:30 appt where other issues were found are still being fixed, (8pm! No one stays, is he super man?) Glen did not leave to go home, he stayed to finish the job. A Home Depot run, 2 faucet's fixed as well as the sprinkler line. Many avenues were taken before doing any extra work for cost savings where necessary. I would promote A&W to anyone that asks for MAJOR or MINOR work.
On time, curtious and very fair. If you have a plumbing problem, give them a call.
Steve was very personable and fixed the problem! I had water leaking from a ceiling and my home warranty company wasn't able to find anyone to come deal with it the day after July 4th! So I found Steve myself...after reading other Yelp reviews...and he came within a few hours. I wouldn't say he is cheap (actually I'd say quite expensive!) but he diagnosed the problem, tore out the ceiling to find the leak, and quickly fixed it. I would definitely use him again.
Steve arrived promptly, but he didn't have the basic equipment to do the job.
He said the p-trap under the bathroom sink had to come off, then said the connection to the wall would be difficult to work with because it had only been siliconed in place (which turned out to be untrue).
He went up on the roof and tried to clear the drain from the vent, but
the end of the snake failed to turn the corner below. He then said he'd have to return the next day with a smaller hand snake. The next morning he phoned and said
he couldn't come at all.
Another company arrived with a small power hand snake. He fed it into the sink drain without removing the p- trap below and did a thorough clean-out in under fifteen minutes. The pipe that entered the wall was surrounded by 'old fashioned lead'
according to Dave, the successful plumber, and he was glad he hadn't had to mess with it, it would have taken another hour. A. R. Saratoga
