Horrible, from the receptionist to the techs, to the owner. Long story short, my warranty company sent them out back in November and the tech showed up 7 hours late (7 pm), with no apology other than I did not live on his side of town and he had to cover the shift for another guy after finishing his own. He tells me that he must order some parts and they would follow up in 7-10 business days. After three weeks I called to follow up and was given the complete run around, no one had any idea about any ordered parts. I called back a few more times in the following weeks and the receptionist tells me that I don't have to contact them...they will contact me when the part comes, yet was still obviously unaware of any pending order. Only after calling and asking for a manage does another tech come back out, by then it's January. He tells me he needs to go to Home Depot to pick up parts. He leaves later stating that they needed to order an additional valve. Two weeks pass and I do not hear from them again. I call my warranty company and they put us on 3-way and the receptionist basically lies and said they made several attempts to contact me and I didn't answer or return any calls. We schedule out yet another visit and the tech brings the valve but he can't fix the tub leak. He tells me he need to bust a hole in my wall to repair the leak and they do NOT repair any holes they make. I declined this service and he made me sign the invoice stating that He advised me of the solution to my problem and I declined it. I later called another plumber over that same day because, by now, my drippy faucet was now a full leak. The other plumber ran out to Home Depot and purchased a valve and replaced it in 5 minutes, no hole in wall needed! The warranty company contacted A-1 and Richard the owner contacted me because he wanted to """"make things right and use the example as a learning experience for his crew"""". He offered to refund my service fee and said he put the check in the mail in March. It's now May...and no check, no follow up. Nothing. I've advised my warranty company to NEVER send this crew out to my home ever again.

The warranty company keeps assigning these guys to me. The first encounter with a stopped up toilet and another leaky one. Since I had a third toilet I asked him to inspect it to see if there was anything that needed to be done to it since he was there. He did something to it but did not recommend any replacements for it. Everything was finished to my satisfaction when the tech left. A few weeks later the toilet in the powder room (which I barely use) began leaking. I only noticed it when I noticed the carpet outside of the door being wet. Who knows how long it leaked. Since it was less than 30 days they should have come out with no service charge. They ended up charging me anyway stating that the toilet in the powder room was never serviced (according to the write-up by the tech). Fast forward a year later they were sent by my warranty company to service a garbage disposal. The tech claimed bones were lodged in the disposal and it needed to be replaced. This was not covered by AHS due to it being a foreign object. There were no bones in the disposal, the tech lied. I personally stuck my had in there and there was nothing I could feel that was lodged in there. He just wanted me to pay the $275 to replace it. I called the warranty company and complained. They are sending a new plumbing company out. Let's see if it is the same diagnosis.

I requested and received service from a-total plumbing and it was not good at all. The tech, Roderick , came out and turned on my water and was unable to turn it off and it completly ruined my stairs going to the basement by not wearing boots. He also was unable to turn the water off so the basement carpet is ruined and the water could not be turned back on for 24hrs I therefore had to stay in a hotel the night ($100.00) Also, the county would charge me $45.00 to come back on Sat. to turn it back on and they would not send anyone out to turn it back on the next day. not come back and turn the water back on I am very unhappy with the service and will not use a-total again and will inform my home warranty (sears)

Something was stuck in my garbage disposal and A-Total Plumbing was sent out by my warranty company. The technician said the object could not be removed and that my entire disposal needed to be replaced. After he left I put my hand in the disposal and wiggled the object and it came out and the disposal is working fine, proving that the technician lied and exaggerated the repairs so that I would pay him more than just the $100 copay. He wanted to charge me $385 to replace the disposal. This company has no integrity.

I had an A Total plumber come out to replace my water pressure valve. My real estate agent at the time let the plumber in because I was not in town and after removing the old valve, the plumber discovered that he did not bring the correct valve to replace it with. Five days later, I came out to the house to let the same plumber from A Total in to complete the work with the proper valve. I walked in to discover water damage going through every ceiling of my three story townhome. The plumber told me that the damage must have happened because of a storm earlier in the week and I probably have an issue with my roof. After saying that, he claimed that he had brought the wrong valve AGAIN and that it would be another 4 days until he could get back to fix it. (at this point, I'm just over one week away from the closing date to sell my townhome). I walked over to where the valve work had been done and I saw water actively gushing out of the pipe and onto the floor from where the old valve used to be. The plumber had actually seen this and tried to act like a storm must have caused the damage. The next thing I know, the guy is going down the stairs as quickly as he could to leave the house and get out of there. I chased him down and told him that the still flowing water... still causing more and more damage to my townhome as we spoke... the water clearly was coming from where he worked on the valve and I asked him to stay on the property and work to get the water shut off to prevent more damage. Long story short(er), this guy was COMPLETELY incompetent and taking smoking breaks between attempts to find the outdoor water shut off. He never found the valve.... it took another plumber coming out 4 hours later, taking three digs into the ground and finding it immediately. The entire 5 to 6 hours this was going on, this plumber was lying about everything and his stories about any aspect of what was going on never stayed consistent. In the meantime, the president of A Total was on the phone with me soon after the water was shut off. Richard, the owner, promised me, """"I will take complete responsibility for this and personally make sure that your house is restored completely and that my plumber's negligence will not affect you negatively in any way"""". Richard claimed that he would send me a check for my lost wages for that day, which I still to this date have not received. Also, my house's closing was pushed back one week before it finally closed... this cost me another month's mortgage payment. I cannot count the endless hours I spent on the phone and time lost at work trying to get A Total's insurance to reimburse me for an amount where my home actually COULD be restored. By this point, Richard had completely removed himself from the process. I would call and talk to him on the phone, he would promise he'd work on things and always that the check was just in the mail.... every single thing was proven to be a lie. I do not understand how a """"company"""" like this can get away with such unbelievable and unethical practices in modern America. I will raise this complaint to the better business bureau, but I'm shocked that there haven't been reports already filed and action taken against these people. This gave me about 2 months of feeling like I was in the twilight zone. Unbelievable.... truly.

I had a total out to repair my toilet . Everything was great from the office staff to the plumber they sent .very professional

LOOK ELSEWHERE for your plumbing needs. SERIOUSLY! LOOK ELSEWHERE! I I am very unhappy with the quality of work with the drywall repair. The patch does not fit the hole they made. I called and stated the job was a rough job and to finish it would cost $500 to repair and paint a 12 inch patch.

I recently have a leak in my house and my insurance sent this company. The first time they said that they did not know what to do because the leek was in a slab. They come back a few days after , in the meantime the water was still running and damaging my furniture. They came with a machine the second time to establish that the leak was .They come back the 3rd time and the leak was just under the sink completely different place of what they though. They fixed in 10 minutes and ask an huge amount of money. They did a sloppy job and I needed to call another plumber to fixed. They are dishonest, incompetent and definitively worst company ever. I complain with the insurance too because they should screen the companies that they sent. Be aware and stay away from this company.

A Total was assigned to my home warranty claim for a leaking hot water heater. I submitted the claim on a Friday afternoon. Knowing that it was close to the end of the day, I called in to find out how they would handle the claim. The woman on the phone was very abrupt and said she could not help until the paperwork came through but that they don't let the techs go home until all calls are handled. Around 5pm, she finally called back and told me that the next available appointment was Monday between 10 and 2pm and there was no way anyone could be available sooner. Not knowing what else to do, I took it. I then called AHS and had the claim elevated so they had to respond within 24hrs. A Total finally called me back at 9:30pm and said someone would call me in the AM to schedule a visit. I didn't hear from anyone until nearly 10am - at which point I had carried on with my Saturday - and the only option they could give me was between 12 and 2. I was not able to get back home by then for sure so I was back to the Monday appointment. The tech that showed up on Monday spent 20 minutes examining my system, told me that I needed a new expansion tank, $95 in additional """"code upgrades"""" and that he would be back WEDNESDAY to install the new water heater. When it was all said and done, it seems the job was well done, I was only conned into $95 worth of """"code upgrades"""" and the technician was pleasant enough. However, A Total did nothing to help the job go more quickly. Any other plumber would have showed up with a WH on his truck or gone to the supply store to get one. It was a bit crazy that they drug this out 5 days.

It took them several days to visit my home, which I guess is to be expected when using a home warranty. The tech, """"Cory"""", came out and was obviously very sick. He should not have been working. Without doing anything, he noticed a piece of a broken flower pot and began trying to convince me that I had terracotta pipes that needed to be excavated. (Our home was inspected one month prior when we purchased the house and I know for a fact that I do not have terracotta pipes). He didn't want to do any work - was convinced that it wouldn't make a difference. I had to pretty much beg him to get his auger and attempt to clear the line. He did, and after about 30 seconds, he told me he couldn't' put the auger in the pipe because there was a major """"root blockage"""" and once again he insisted the only repair would be to pull the pipe out, a cost of nearly $9,000. I had DELTA PLUMBING come out the next day and their technician was able to clear the line with an auger - (previous owners flushed rag/mop pieces and they were causing the stoppage). I called A Total back to explain the situation and spoke with the owner Richard. I tried to explain the situation only to have Richard call me a liar, say I didn't know what I was talking about and then threaten to invoice me for their time outside of my home warranty if I dared to dispute the transaction with my credit card company. I would have never used this company and I hope my warrant doesn't force me to in the future. If you have the severe misfortune of having to use them, make sure you watch over them and make them do their jobs OR just save your time, spend the money and hire people with integrity.
