Company Overview

With two decades in the plumbing industry, I excel at resolving issues caused by previous plumbers. I founded my company to provide a better service relationship.

My journey began with hands-on training at a large company. Eventually, I took on a teaching role at a local high school. I still pursue both professions.

I had a hose bibb leak along with a bad water pressure regulator. Carlos explained everything that needed to be done and took care of the issues quickly and at a fair price. He is my new go-to person for all of my and my family's plumbing needs.

I had some urgent plumbing repairs that needed to be made after a disastrous leak in my house. I called five plumbers for quotes and ultimately went with Carlos. His pricing was very fair, he thoroughly explained his plan for repairs, answered all my questions and finished the job the same day. I couldn't have asked for a smoother service. I would definitely contract him again and recommend his business.

Carlos was just great. Had a clogged line on my kitchen sink. He did the hydro-jet on it to clean the years of grease and buildup out. While he was there he reconfigured the piping under the sink and noticed the dishwasher wasn't connected to the air gap so he fixed it all for a very reasonable price. He was at my house on a Sunday within a couple of hours, and all done in about an hour. Couldn't be happier

Title: What they don't tell you is when your house settles, you will be doing a lot of DIY stuff.

Second Title: DIY means YouTube YouTube YouTube

My house has been giving me the blues lately.

Preinstalled microwave short circuited and blew 2 fuses. Haven't replaced it yet, but it wont be cheap.

1 of the fuses beyond repair had to get that fix.

Sprinkler System leaking and do not work. Had to get it fixed.

Sprinkler heads breaking and flooding water everywhere.

And of course, door knobs, light bulbs that are stuck due to heat,

Some of the stuff I was able to do myself, others I needed to call for help.

So yesterday around 6:30 p.m. I was minding my own business gaming and watching TV (its a skill) and my daughter comes into the room and let me know that the shower handle has been having issues lately and she just now want to let me know. I go in there and the water will not turn off. (Super Big Sigh) So I do what I have been doing in this situation with my house breaking right and left. Off to YouTube.

So the issue (i found out after inspecting and watching a few videos) is that the cartridge inside the pipe behind the shower handle no longer works. The second issue is that my shower handle hex screw stripped so I can not take it off to get to the cartridge. Because the cartridge is broken, I can not turn the water off. So it forced me to turn the water off for the entire house. (Of course my daughter who is a Senior right now and the wife was not too happy about that) I just looked at them like of course I don't like it either, I shower just like everyone else. Found out that hex screws are steel so when I tried to drill a hole in it to use my screw extractor it didn't work. My drill bit struggled with it and eventually all it did was smooth it out even further. Because it is a hard steel my extractor could not grip it. I tried to drill the small hole to the hex screw to widen it so maybe I can grab it from the sides and no dice. Unfortunately, I had to sleep on it and no water in the house. The people in the house was not happy. I went to Yelp and used the feature that allows you to ask for help from multiple companies and went to bed.

Fast forward to today. I called my home warranty who advised me that my issue isn't covered. SMH. I checked my messages from Yelp and 1 company said they can fix it but they wont be out until late and it will cost me $275 + $60 for a new handle. (At this point, i was aware that the only way to get the handle off with a stripped hex screw if your drill can't cut it is to saw it off.) Of course, my Senior daughter is graduating soon and me and the wife is taking her to Disney World. So I really don't have $335 to spend right now.

Lucky for me Carlos with A Second Opinion Plumbing (fitting name I know) sent me a message and asked to see a picture. After seeing the picture he let me know that just like I feared from watching YouTube the handle will have to be cut off. He said that it is an unusual situation to have happen and said that he could come out, but since I already got my DIY on if I want i can continue my endeavor and he suggested a hack saw will do the trick. I figured I was already down the rabbit hole with all the drilling I have been doing so I went out and got me a hack saw and goggles and went to work.

I was surprised that Carlos checked on me to see how things were going and even told me where to start cutting. After I cut around the whole thing and sent him a picture he offered to come to my home to check on my work. Even with the cutting I wasn't sure if I could pull the front of the handle off and Carlos snapped it off and let me know that everything else looks to be in good working order. (Well except for the cartridge).

At this point with being so far down the rabbit hole to Alice I decided not to pay for service to have Carlos replace the cartridge. I figured I had my knuckles sore and swollen from sawing all day I might as well see it through and finished the project. At this point I am determined to finish this crazy project (still not finished I have to go buy the cartridge and the cartridge puller). I do appreciate Carlos taking the time out of his day to check in on my DIY project and providing pointers along the way.

Thank you Carlos, I have your card and if I have a plumbing issue I can't DIY my way out of it, i will definitely give you a call. You are a good man.

Carlos did a great job. He was able to come help us in the same day we reached out to him. His prices were great. He was very nice and personable and he cleaned up the bathroom area he was working in after performing the needed repairs. Carlos from Second Opinion Plumbing was great. We had a bath tub faucet leak and the hardware on our tub was not the common type you find at home depot or lowes. He found the parts and was able to make the repair for us. He was prompt, professional and did not try to upsell us on any unnecessary services. We recommend using him for any of your plumbing needs - Ruth & Mike
