It takes a lot for me to shame a business publicly, but I want to warn all of you as to the deceptive business practices that The Home Depot and AJ Perri are engaging in. I called both entities multiple times and sent emails and both have refused to return the calls.
My AC was running hot a few weeks ago. It was during the first heat spell, and I needed a quick recharge (or so I thought) of the coolant for the Central Air. What I didn't know at that point was that my 20-year-old unit uses R22, which is a coolant that is not produced any longer. It was actually replaced by another coolant which has also been banned. The age and make of the unit alone would identify for the technician that it's an R22 cooled unit or that it was run by the replacement coolant which is also banned.
Well, Home Depot promised to have someone there the next day. AJ Perri took info on the phone and asked the make and age of the unit. I asked specifically if they could recharge it and was promised that they could.
The technician showed up on time and looked at the unit and said:
""We cannot recharge R22 units. Sorry. Your only option is to replace. Let me get the Home Depot AC Sales team on the phone.""
This was simply being used as a lead to take advantage of a desperate consumer.
Despite all of the above, they charged me $138 for the ""Repair Service Visit"" AJ Perri KNEW was pointless. It's not a lot of money, but it's reprehensible.
AJ Perri knew on the phone that it could not repair this. Home Depot directs AJ Perri to go anyway and sell a new unit. To charge for the ""Service call"" is tantamount to unconscionable business practices and I encourage all of you to share this. I wish I had the resources to start a class action. Had AJ Perri told me that on the phone and offered to send a salesperson instead, I would have taken the meeting.
Oh, by the way, the tech was wrong and it's not illegal to use R22 if you can find it, which I did...so it's fixed. I imagine that this business model extends to all of Home Depot's ""repair"" services and fear that many have been and will be taken advantage of by this deception.
Not only didn't you get my business for the new AC unit, The Home Depot, you lost all of the business I gave you for everything else.
Wrong guy to ignore. Here endeth the lesson...

Poor service. Air conditioner broke two weeks ago. Unit is under warranty and we have a contract too! Had to wait almost 1 week for a repair. Unit was repaired 1 week later 6/18. Guess what! Air conditioner not working again, today, Wednesday 6/25. They cannot get to us until 6/30. We've been a loyal customer for over twenty years!
Don't water your money with this company or their service contracts. Their word and your loyalty mean nothing to them. NO STARS FOR THEM .

these people are the worst. had an issue in january with heating. now hottest day of the year no ac.

expensive and no customer service. kelly is the worst and ignores calls.

next stop is suing them for damages.

wish i would have done research and seen the complaints back in 2018. do not use these people. please save yourself the headache that i am melting in.

Do not use AJ Perri. They are the worst. The air went out on monday. AJ Perri had installed the unit and serviced it for 10 years. They give us an appointment. We get the confirm email. Two hours into the schedule window. We call. We got told - ohh we have to reschedule. We were going to send you an email. They gave us a window of 12 - 4 PM yesterday. I called at 2 PM to make sure they were still coming. I got ohh we have to reschedule. Again no call to let us know. No nothing. They said they would talk to a supervisor. But by that time I had ZERO faith in them. Then called C & C Air and someone came to fix the unit by 530 PM. I looked on yelp and saw this was a pattern in the last month. The same thing happened to 3 other people. Just wanted to warn people. In case they are in a similar situation.

Unfortunately, after spending probably close to $20k with AJ Perri over the years and paying for their elite customer program, I have had the worst, most dismissive experience ever as a customer.

AJ Perri came out to inspect my air conditioner in April for preparation for the warmer weather. They said everything was working perfectly.

Yesterday (two months later), my air conditioner cut out entirely on the hottest day of the year and the indoor temperature jumped to above 85 degrees. I made an appointment with AJ Perri and they said they would be out between 6 and 10pm the same day. By 8:25pm, I had heard nothing from them, so I called to confirm they were still coming out and they said they were. I heard nothing an hour later, so I called again at 9:25pm and they confirmed someone would be here and their dispatch team would call me back. I didn't hear back for 15 minutes, so I called again at 9:41pm. Again, they said I was on their schedule and their dispatch team would be calling me back. At 10:01pm, I had still heard nothing and called and asked to speak to a supervisor. At that time, they told me they couldn't reach anyone and no one would be coming out. They rescheduled me for 2-6pm the following day. Our house dropped down to 80 degrees at night and we slept with wet towels on ourselves to stay cool.

Today, at 12:14pm, I called AJ Perri again to ensure someone would show up this time. They confirmed I was on the schedule again and that someone would arrive between 2 and 6pm. I heard nothing after that and called back at 3:54pm to ensure someone would be coming out to fix our issue. I was placed on hold and transferred for nearly 20 minutes until I was told that no one was available and they could reschedule me for Friday. When I asked why I kept getting pushed back in the queue, they had no answer. When I asked why no one contacted me, they had no answer. When I asked why I paid for their elite program only to have my air conditioner break down anyway and then receive no expedited service, they had no answer. When I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager, I was told that the customer support staff wasn't able to reach any of them and that they didn't really know what was going on.

I will absolutely never use AJ Perri again and will make sure that family, friends and neighbors understand what a terrible experience this has been.

I bought 3 furnaces for two homes from A.J.Perri between 8-11 years ago. I was receiving a message on my nest that there was an issue. I had A.J.Perri make a service call where I was told that I would need one furnace right away (it was Jan.) and another one soon. Mind you, my house was heating up fine. The quote was for $15K for two furnaces. I called another company to get a second opinion; nothing but changing a filter was wrong. I waited to write this review to make sure I had heat and now, June, air conditioning, I do. A.J.Perri refunded their service call fee. I requested the $179. fee that I incurred for the second opinion but they would not reimburse that; so glad I obtained that second opinion, no matter what the cost was. A.J.Perri did not return my calls when I asked to speak with a Supervisor, I was told that someone would reach out to me but that did not happen, even after follow-up.

Incredibly disappointed with the customer service. I had an appointment confirmation from 2-6pm, booked the same morning. At 5pm, I called to confirm if the technician was still planning to arrive and was informed that my appt was actually cancelled. No communication (email, text, voicemail) about the change in plans. I had an urgent matter and would have called another plumbing service if they were not able to come. Not sure how a business operates on such poor lack of communication and follow through. Would strongly avoid!

I would strongly advise against using this company. On two separate occasions, I cleared my entire schedule to be available for an estimate, and both times they canceled last minute. There was no real explanation--just a vague offer to reschedule again. No accountability, no ownership, just a complete disregard for my time.

They seem to have no problem taking the appointment, but when it comes to actually showing up, they're completely unreliable--kind of like that famous Seinfeld bit: ""You know how to take the reservation, but you don't know how to hold the reservation."" And holding the reservation is really the most important part.

If you value your time, look elsewhere.

I bought a brand new HVAC system TWO years ago, since April 28th I have needed techs to come in 3 different times to replace different components. I am STILL WAITING on a MAJOR component to run the unit. NO RESPONSE from management about my issues to address this quickly or find another solution. I CAN'T run UNIT and have elderly parents in my home and the weather is getting warm!!! UNACCEPTABLE. I spent a good bit of money and did not get my money's worth.

I am so disappointed in AJ Perri. I have been a customer for years, even had them replace my HVAC recently but the customer service is appalling. This is the second time they show a complete lack of interest in a loyal customer. Everything is fine when you pay and things work out the way that fits their process but as soon as you have a problem, they go silent and nobody is responsible. Last year it took me almost a dozen emails and phone calls to get documentation of their service, no follow ups, nobody was responsible. This year, they had an HVAC maintenance appointment at our vacation home and the technician (for the first time in eight years) decided he needed the owner present to during service and just left. What is worse, they didn't even call or email me, I just learned about it when the HOA informed me that I didn't complete the maintenance requirements. I called customer service, no apology, stating that this had always been their policy (not true), no explanation, on supervisor available and they graciously offered me that I could try to call them back again the next day. - I can't think of a worse way to treat your customers. They are not cheap and without customer service, there must be better options.
I will not be getting service or replacing any appliances or water heater with AJ Perri, and neither should you if you want a company that values their customers.
