I started my journey in the 1970s, working for just a handful of companies. I kicked off my career with a family business run by Bruce Campbell in Laguna Beach, a knowledgeable person who launched a plumbing training program in 1933; I learned extensively from him. After that, I moved into commercial construction while studying business law at UC Irvine. I enjoyed building so much that I never looked back.

Later, I returned to Kansas and worked for the president of PHCC for many years. I moved to Lake Lotawana, just outside Blue Springs, MO, and worked for Frank Stasy, another member of PHCC. It was there that I met my wife; we married and returned to California, where she was from. Afterward, I joined George Brazil, the president of the National PHCC. When they were acquired by consolidators, I chose to go out on my own and have never regretted it. This has been a great career path.
