I had a leak behind my front sink cabinet..Didn't know what to do so I called 5 Star..They immediately started to work the plan..Within 2 hours on a Sunday.... Christian was on the situation and handled it with the utmost care and concern...This Company should have a 10 star rating..I'm pleased with the pricing and the overall professionalism I seen at my residence..HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Justin B.I called 5 Star Plumbing out to my house, to replace a water pressure regulator ($100 part at Home Depot) and was given a quote by Jacob of $1,000 to replace the regulator and the shutoff valve ($25 part at Home Depot), which he noticed had a small leak... in my sticker shock, he proceeded to go sit in his van and ""call the boss"" to see if they can give me a ""discount"" only to come back with a price of $975!
I work from home and strongly like to support local business, even when i can do something myself. Long story short... that quote is OUTRAGEOUS and when I asked for the breakdown of parts versus labor, i was told ""it's about half and half"" but was assured it included a 12-month warranty.
So first, I'm sure Jacob (or the company) paid less than the $125 for the parts that i got from Home Depot.
Secondly, I ended up doing the work myself, in the dark, after my workday had ended... and completed the effort in under an hour (with a 12-month warranty on the parts).
Now third, as I work in a service industry myself, and charge an hourly rate for IT services to my customers, I am baffled how an hour (or even two) of ANY form of labor could cost $875.
I would highly recommend against using this company for your plumbing needs. Either they charge roughly $435/hour or more for labor, or this technician is dishonest and looking to take advantage of his companys customers... either way... definitely not someone I would EVER do business with or recommend for plumbing.
Response to Owners Reply:
Your employee should of communicated the work he was doing included more than just the valve and regulator, he did not, I also still would be out of my mind to pay you $500 for what is still $200 in parts... or $500 for what is still 2 hours of work you just described, which again, sounds like markup.
You just admittedly admitted that you mark up your parts over retail, yet I'm sure you pay wholesale, not retail for parts, so this again sounds like you run an immoral business. Your final comment, is just a justification for your high hourly rates, which again is outrageous.
After leaving you this review, I read some of the other 1 and 2 star reviews for Five Star Plumbing and see many other potential customers called a second plumbing company out, only to get a much lesser quote. I unfortunately was in a hurry, found the plumbing company nearest to my home (you) and after my bad experience, did not have the time to wait for another plumber, but would of gladly paid $500-600 for the work you quoted at $1,000. Unfortunately my friend you are running a hustle, with high prices, taking advantage of your customers, and my review will stand.
Also, comparing yourself to a lawyer is a prime example of taking advantage of your customer in their time of need. Lawyers that charge high price rates like $500/hr do so for the same reason a coke at Disneyland costs $10... if your business tactic is to take advantage of your customers situation when choice is limited, that only works on the naïve and for after hours service when time is critical... it's a bad practice for ANY business to use on a day-to-day... but I'm sure my one review won't harm your business right? Good luck with your overpriced services, I'm sure you will continue to find customers that will pay your marked your prices.
This company was recommended by my neighbor. They are fantastic, reasonable, efficient and they fully explain what the job entails and how they will complete it to your satisfaction. Two Thumbs up.
Thank you for fixing my shower. They were very polite and kept me up to date on the progress. They cleaned up any mess that was made and my bathroom looked perfect when they left. I would use them again for any plumbing work needed.
Alicia A.Extremely disappointed with the LACK of service we have received over the course of the last month. On 6/26 5 Star came out to one of our project sites to quote replacing multiple HVAC units on site. A week went by with no contact from Jeremy (or anyone at 5 Star). Given that it was a holiday week (4th of July) we waited and reached out Monday the 8th. I made multiple attempts to contact 5 Star and requesting return calls regarding the bid. Eventually I was given Jeremy's direct phone number. When I contacted him (July 11th), he stated there was a delay due to another contractor and he would call me the following day with an update. No phone call the following day. When I contacted him directly on the 13th he did not answer nor return my return call request. On 7/24/19 I called the company directly and explained that I had attempted to contact Jeremy directly 5 different times, each time requesting a return phone call. I was informed by the front desk that my complaint would be passed along to the owner who would return my call directly and fix the issue. It is now 8/9/2019 and I have yet to receive a phone call from Jeremy or the owner of the company as well as not received the quote we were promised over a month ago. If you care about your business and accomplishing tasks in a timely manner is a priority for you my recommendation is to NOT use 5 Star Plumbing as the poor customer service is an issue from the front desk all the way to the owner himself.
Neil came to my house to assess a leak under the kitchen sink. He did not know the source of the leak, but told me if it was in the wall behind the sink they would have to remove the cabinets AND the granite countertop. To fix a leak. Under the sink. How about removing the drywall under the sink? The same guy came to a rental we own that had leaky galvanized hose bibs. He said the whole house would have to be repiped to the tune of $8,000. To fix three leaks. In hose bibs. How about sawing them off and threading the pipes?? Shameless upsellers!
Keely K.**UPDATE** This piece of shit company left to ""go get a part"" to fix their fuuuuuuuuck up and decided not to come back at all! You don't like my review of your company? Just wait.....
Here is the update to my original 2 star rating. Has now gone down to a one star. We are now a year later from when they did a re route in my attic of the hot water pipe and I have water leaking through my ceiling. Called the company and they found that the pipe they installed was against our main condensation pipe and snapped it. They agreed to fix the broken pipe but refuse to fix the damaged drywall. So they are doing the$5 fix but won't cover the $100+ drywall repair.
In the pictures you will see 2 pipes a white pipe which as the condensation pipe and the blue pipe which is what they installed. Where they cross is exactly where the break is in the white pipe
Update: Nope, it was your business. Had bought a new to me home in your service area. Your company was sent out by that home warranty company (Republic) .
I asked the home warranty company not to send your company again.
Do not do business with this company. They took advantage of me and ripped me off. I had a toilet tank break and my home warranty company sent 5 Star to replace the toilet. The home warranty company denied the claim and 5 Star said they would replace the toilet for $575.00. My toilet was an ADA toilet with an elongated bowl. I repeated that 3 times and said I wanted it replaced with that type of toilet. Due to the water damage in my home, I also had the water restoration company there with fans & dehumidifiers--there was a lot going on and I trusted 5 Star to do the job right. It was two weeks before I used the toilet due to the other work that had to be done--that's when I realized they replaced my toilet with a non ADA round toilet. I paid $575.00 for a substandard cheap toilet. It took 3 phone calls and 10 days for Gabriel to get back and he proceeded to argue with me about the kind toilet I had and said I agreed to the replacement. I know what kind of toilet I had, I had it for 5 years--I would have never agreed to that. He said he would change it out, but that I would have to pay for the new toilet at a cost of about $200.00. At that point I'd be into this about $800.00. He said he'd get a price and get back to me that was 11 days ago. Since then I've done research on the appropriate cost to replace a toilet and I was initially way over charged especially since the toilet I got was at most a $90.00 dollar toilet. I should have been charged at most $300.00 for that job. This company is dishonest and will rip you off.
These guys are great! Super speedy service. I called them around 230 in the afternoon for a clogged shower drain and by 4 they were at my door! Had my drain unclogged and draining flawlessly in less then 20 minutes. Friendly service and a fair price will definitely be recommending to family and friends in the future and for myself as well!
