Be careful of this company. When I had a leak in the water line near the water meter on Sunday, June 19, I needed a plumber quickly. My usual go-to plumber wasn't available, so we found these guys on Google. This is a rental house, and my tenant is without water. They told me they could get a guy out there to fix it. In a couple of hours, they called with an estimate, but immediately told me that since the leak was under the sidewalk, they would have to get a special permit on Monday to repair things in the city right of way easement. They promised action by 8:30 Monday. Monday at 9:30 I called to see what was going on, and they put me off, saying everyone was in a meeting. At 10:30, they called and said they did not have the necessary permits to do the work, and referred me to another company. So my tenant spent a day without water because they weren't honest enough to tell me straight away that they weren't qualified to do the repair. I don't know if they will still charge me $150 for the service call. They had better not.

Extremely expensive for sure! $45 trip charge (twice) and $135/hr to re-do, rough in plumbing in half bath and install modern toilet and faucet - total cost $1400 and they scratched up my marble floor when installing the toilet

Extremely expensive. See the breakdown below. I paid 45$ for the consult and was shocked at the quote so I decided to shop around. The labor to fix the control issue was $500. And quoted $2400 to replace entire heater. They say their quality is good but I am not one to comment on that. All I got was a quote from them. I ended up doing the install myself for 33% of the cost.
Here is their breakdown compared to homedepot. You can judge for yourself.
1st plumbing-
Water heater: $1100 Rheem 40 gal short
Expansion tank: $250
Drip pan : $140
Reroute drip pan: $170
Replace supply line and valve: $220
Replace gas line and drip leg: $150
City inspection: $260
Homedepot prices for parts only-
Water heater: $419 Rheem 40 gal short
Tank: did not need replacing. If did $50
Drip pan: $20
Reroute: $10
Replace supply line: did not need replacing
Replace gas line: $20
Drip leg: replacement not needed $30
Labor (pro plumber friend): $300
The drip pan replacement was enough to cause me to write this review. $20 pan installed for $310. It is literally just an aluminum pan. I then noticed they stated they needed to replace the supply line and valve due to a leak. However the leak they pointed out was on the hot water supply. Not the water supply which he stated needed to be welded in and new valve replaced. I had a plumber friend look at it and said it is 100% good. It just needed a new gasket to stop the leak it had at the connection to the tank.
They scared me with the expectation I needed new pipes, welding, and there were gas codes which my house was not up to code on. Many specialty services a plumber would do. However there was no welding needed and a gas line was 100% to code.
Other quotes also were high from other companies. In the range of $1400-1800 but do not be fooled. Do your research. If uncomfortable with install buy all parts and hire the installation labor separately.

Fixed my kitchen and washing machine plumbing quickly and efficiently. So far so good. Everything is working.
The plumber, Casey, was a class act. Didn't waste time. No idle chatter or jive talk. Diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Kept me informed at what it was going to cost every step of the way. No surprises.
It wasn't cheap but probably par for the course. Nothing is cheap in Austin these days except breakfast tacos and beautiful sunsets.

1st Plumbing just left my house. And while the service man and receptionist were very nice and polite, I had specifically called out that I would need a camera to scope out the issue in my drain. They mentioned that wouldn't be an issue. So after his diagnosis, he decided he needed a camera but didn't have it. Had I known that the camera would not be available for 2 days, then I would not have requested a visit by this company. $45 bucks for 10 minutes to tell me something I already knew.... not happy.

Priceless is the term I use to describe the feeling I get from 1st AC and Heat. I used to believe it a myth to be able to receive service of this type! Great team and great service are the foundation from this company and they just built up from there. I will go no place else and neither will my friends and family who receive exceptional service time and time again. Thank you 1st Ac and Heat, and Plumbing too ;) !!!!!!!!!!

I called 1st Plumbing based on my proximity and decent reviews.
I explained my needs to Shane over the phone and told him that I was going to need a hydrojet service and wanted to know what the cost would be. He replied that he did not know what the cost would be and he would need to send over a plumber to make an estimate AND the service call would cost $45, however, he did assure me that they did have a hydrojet service.
A few hours later the plumber arrives and tells me the hydrojet service is going to cost at least $600. So I say wow that's a lot, pay him $45 and send him on his way.
This is not a very honest business model.
Thanks for wasting my time.

I overtightened the water shut-off valve under the bathroom sink, cracked the PVC pipe and needed the pipe repaired. I had already removed the tile, so this involved cutting 1 piece of PVC pipe, adding a new section and the new valve. Called this company and explained what was needed. They indicated a $45 diagnostic/ trip fee that would be applied to the cost of the repair. Okay. Plumber arrived in the scheduled window. Looks at the pipe, indicates it will take about 30 minutes to fix...then pulls out a binder, flips to a page and indicates that he is supposed to charge me $480 (b/c he will need to pull off 1 more 4"tile), but that he will cut me a break and will charge $287. I confirmed that we were talking about 30 minutes of work and less than $2 in parts, which he agreed. So, the hourly rate for this plumbing company is north of $560??? He stated that everything is done on a flat rate, no matter the amount of work that is required. They do not disclose this over the phone. They do have a contractor rate of $135/hr, but you then have to pay an additional $45 for the trip (so $180 for the 1st hour). In my experience, an average experienced plumber is about $75/hr. This company charges more for labor than a surgeon. Needless to say, I sent him on his way and fixed the problem myself for a couple of bucks. Company gets two stars b/c the plumbing tech waived the trip fee when he saw how irritated I was. He seemed embarrassed at the cost and should have been.

I just had 1st Plumbing Services come to give me an estimate on what I thought was a simple task (remove a water softener from my house's input water line). I can do this job in less than 2 hours. 1PS wanted $429.34 to do what they estimated to be a 1-1.5 hour job. YIKES! When I complained about the excessive fee, they brought it down to "only" $388.34. I guess times have changed, but I didn't know that plumbers (with company overhead) now go for a rate of $250-300/hour. I paid my $45 fee for the service call, and cut my losses.
By the way, if you want a good independent plumber in Austin who works for a reasonable hourly charge, and charges minimal overhead (e.g. travel), then I recommend Gilbert at Blue Dragon Plumbing.

I called them, and two hours later I had a new gargabe disposal completely installed. You can't beat that.
