Onee K.This Company is excellent. My inquires and service went smoothly from beginning to end. Serviceman Dominic L. was excellent. He assessed what I wanted done, and advised me on what needed to be done. He was very professional, knowledgeable, polite and patient. Dominic answered all of questions, and even discovered another issue if left unnoticed could have cost me more money. I can't say enough about this Company. Dominic was very efficient, and kept me informed all along the way. The Company is excellent and very responsive to phone calls. I would highly recommend this Company to anyone! Dominic is simply great!!
Jeff T.These guys did an OK install of a water heater (only two problems, both fixable my me) so I decided to try them on some duct work. I needed a new supply plenum and had a video chat with Ryan at the end of March. I climbed up in the attic, took a bunch of pictures, made some measurements, explained what I wanted done and asked for a quote. Though Ryan seemed a little distracted (not yet the busy season), I waited for a week before recontacting him. He said, "Sorry I'll have that quote tomorrow." Five calls and six weeks later, each time with the message "Someone will call you back today", I call again. Marcos, though the customer service agent (who never gives her name), says to tell me "we will not bid on the job." Well thanks for nothing Marcos, Marcus, or how ever you name is spelled. You should have told me that back in March, before I crawled up in the attic and did all that work and now that's its too hot for anyone to be up in attic. No excuse for waiting 6 weeks to deliver that message. They seem to be just another hit or miss home repair company.
Priya S.Mark came out to assess a leak that home insurance requested. He was incredibly helpful and despite the fact that our kitchen has been demoed he was able to look at our equipment and make an assessment as to the root cause of the leak and walked us through his process of elimination. He also taught us things that we can look for in the future to detect leaks. He was incredibly patient and answered any questions we had. Very clear and up-front communicator, we really appreciated working with him.
Anne T.Had a great booking and service experience for some minor household work. Their team added an outlet and changed out a ceiling fan (20 foot ceilings). I liked that their quote was for the whole job, whereas other electricians quoted me their hourly rate (and trip charge) but weren't willing to commit to doing the job in under 2 hours at said rate.
On Aug.30, 2019, I called this company about a malfunctioning AC thermostat. I had used them in the past, and although they seemed pricy, had been happy with their work.
I called and was told a technician would be there between twelve and four. A few minute later I got a call and was told a tech. could come right over.
Chris Wyatt arrived. I had met him before. He is a very pleasant person and seems to know his business.
I told him the problem and he said he had a thermostat with him.
Before he began, I asked him how much the thermostat cost. $325 he said. I was quite surprised. I had thought they would be no more than a hundred or so.
Anyway, he completed the installation in a few minutes (it's a simple two wire hookup), And I paid him. About $375 total. ) I became curious the next day. I looked it up on the internet. $50-60 retail! The exact same thermostat! A 700% mark-up! I felt ripped off and like a fool.
Needless to say, I will never use this company again.
For you technicians, including you Chris Wyatt, I hope you sleep well at night knowing how you rip people off. Remember, what goes around, comes around!
I got a quote from a few electricians but 1st Home and Commercial Services were the only ones able to come to my house the day I called. Chris dropped by right on time, diagnosed the problem and fixed it in under an hour. He did a great job, and I would definitely recommend this company for their quick service and great customer service!
Jonathan Z.Great business! Came same day and really punctual. They confirmed the appointment and arrived just in the amount of time they said they would. Caleb checked my outlets flipped a switch and we were fixed. He quoted me a GFI and some new tampering free outlets for my 16 month old. The price was right so I told him to move forward. He performed the job right there and was done in half an hour. Awesomeness!
Nick L.DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Paid $550 to have them come "clean" my AC unit. Didn't check any airflow, showed me before/after pictures of the unit and looked at my Nest thermostat and left. Low and behold a few hours later; my house isn't being cooled to 72 degrees as it had been set, it's now slowly creeping towards the 80 degree mark.
The worst part is when I called them to explain my issue and see if they could come back out (business is literally a mile or two from my house); I was told no technicians. Ok, that's understandable, but when I asked if fees could be waived for not fixing my AC unit the first time and coming out the next morning, I was greeted with hostility. I believe it was something like, "I'm sorry what? I can't do that, unbelievable.", I am then put on hold for upwards of 10 minutes with no explanation....
I eventually hung up the phone and when I called back, got the same person, albeit a bit nicer saying they were calling technicians for me... Interesting, couldn't have mentioned that when you aggressively put me on hold with no explanation. Also, nothing was mentioned about any sort of fees for the upcoming visit. Definitely cancelling any sort of maintenance contract with them after that experience. And now another day wasted where I have to wait around for them to come. PASS...
UPDATE: 4 Days Later... AC has begun not cooling again. Another call to the company, can't send anyone out today of course. So after 3 visits, 1st being the initial "diagnosis", the next being the 4th, they still haven't fixed the problem. Didn't know fixing AC was like playing horseshoes or bags, just throw something at it and hope it works, who cares if it takes them 4 times to fix it. My electric bill is considerably higher than it's ever been. Oh well, live and learn I suppose. And what have we learned today? Not to use 1st Home & Commercial Services....
UPDATE July 16th, 2019: Feel like it's just due diligence to update this review now. Cancelled my maintenance contract so I am only minus $400 dollars and no working AC, guess that's better than $550. So after their 4th visit to my house, they finally determined there was a giant crack in between a vent/furnace in my attic and basically all my cold air was leaking out... SO WHY DID IT TAKE 4 TIMES TO FIND THIS??? I have no idea. Again, it's cost a lot in time (mine and the companies) and energy (bills) for them to determine this. I asked if the tech could send me the pictures he took in my attic, and he said he would send a quote.
July 17th, 2019: Finally received the quote at noon, $370.00 to repair a duct with aluminum tape... Hmmm, hard pass. Even if I have to pay someone double or get up there myself, it would be worth it. That's about how I feel after a week plus of this, 4 visits, and who knows how many phone calls.
Bret W.I called for repair of AC ducts in my attic, choosing 1st Home because they are fairly close to my house. I got an appointment for two days later, which was ok. I got a text from the tech, Jarred, shortly ahead of his arrival. He was friendly and professional, and listened to my explanation of what I expected. He diagnosed the problem and told me it would be a two-person job, and got me on the schedule for the next morning, first thing, because I would be leaving home for an extended trip that morning. They were right on time, and completed the job efficiently, then carefully cleaned up afterward. Jarred sent me pictures of the attic interior before and after the job, which I also appreciated. He was genuinely concerned with doing a good, thorough job, and I highly recommend 1st Home and Jarred in particular!
Jessica S.I have only had good experiences with this company until a couple of weeks ago. I made an appt for someone to come do our twice a year HVAC maintenance. This was our first HVAC maintenance as we just bought our home last fall. He was supposed to come between 8 and 12. He showed up around 4pm. He proceeded to check the unit (interior and exterior). He then couldn't really tell me anything and said he would take pictures for his boss to look at and his boss would call me. This whole thing was just weird. I have never had a technician not be able to tell me anything about what they see or think. I tried to pay and sign up for the twice a year maintenance and he said he couldn't sign me up or let me pay and that I would have to call the office. I forgot to mention that when I made the appt they said the technician would be the one to sign me up. Then to this day, no one from first home has called me, including his boss, I haven't paid for my visit. It's almost as if the appt didn't even happen, even though it most definitely did. Needless to say that I have an appt with a different company to come out and do our maintenance and I will be signing up for a maintenance plan with that company. Hey first home, I tried to give you business and pay (I even called the office and left a message that he didn't have me pay anything). Just a very weird and disappointing experience.
