Established in 1930, Jackman's of Bristol, Inc. has a long history when Glenn Jackman launched the coal and firewood venture, Jackman Coal & Coke Company, in Bristol. Later, his sons entered the family business: Fred joined in 1946 and Glenn Jr. in 1950. Glenn's four sons joined the operation: Fred and Glenn in Bristol while Charles and Ralph later operated in Vergennes, after acquiring ""Thomas Mack Coal Co."" in Vergennes, which was rebranded as Jackman Fuels, Inc. in 1938. In 1947, fuel oil was added to the product line along with L.P. Gas in subsequent years. By 1967, coal sales ceased.
After the death of Glenn Jr. in 1974, Fred Jackman took sole ownership of Jackman's. He operated the business until his retirement in February 1995, when he transferred ownership to his sons, Paul and Peter. Timothy Bouvier and his wife, Kristine Evarts Bouvier, acquired the company from Paul and Peter on July 16, 2018. Tim began his journey with the company in 1999. This transition brought a new name: Jackman's of Bristol, Inc..
