In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to embark on a journey that took him to various farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. His work was integral to the first indoor lighting systems ever established. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and subsequently opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he established his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store with products ranging from washers and dryers to jewelry. Vearl purchased one of the first television sets in Salt Lake City. Though the television only displayed black and white images, it became the talk of the town and brought in large numbers of people. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. The business is now managed by his grandson.

Currently, the business is led by Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim spent his childhood in the family business handling tasks from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, conducting repairs, and selling HVAC systems. Jim now employs over 40 skilled service professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship. Jim received the ""Circle of Excellence"" award.
