In 1920, Vearl Manwill loaded his horse and wagon with tools, carbide lights, and pipes to begin a journey that would lead him to numerous farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. Eventually, Vearl opted to establish himself in Salt Lake City and subsequently opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he established his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His establishment was a comprehensive hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl purchased one of the first television sets in Salt Lake City. While the TV only showed black and white pictures, it captured the attention of the town and drew crowds of people. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. Today, the company is run by his grandson.

Currently, the business is led by Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim grew up immersed in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Jim now employs over 40 skilled service professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship.
