In 1920, Vearl Manwill set out with his horse and wagon, equipped with tools, carbide lights, and piping to embark on a journey that took him to various farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. His installations were part of the first indoor lighting systems ever created. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store with products ranging from washers and dryers to jewelry. He acquired one of the first TVs in Salt Lake City. Even though the TV set featured only black and white visuals, it became a sensation in the community and attracted many visitors. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. Today, the company is run by his grandson.

Currently, the business is led by Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim grew up immersed in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Currently, Jim leads a team of over 40 trained service experts focused on delivering exceptional customer service, reliable products, and quality craftsmanship. Jim received the ""Circle of Excellence"" award. Recent awards feature ""Best of State"" for the years 2011 through 2015 as well as the Angie's List Super Service Award for 2008-2015.
