In 1920, Vearl Manwill set out with his horse and wagon, equipped with tools, carbide lights, and piping to begin a journey that brought him to many farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and later opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he established his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His establishment was a comprehensive hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. He acquired one of the first TVs in Salt Lake City. Though the television only displayed black and white images, it became the talk of the town and attracted many visitors. In time, Vearl no longer needed to sell jewelry and appliances to focus on his expertise—plumbing and heating products. The business is now managed by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim grew up immersed in the family business doing everything from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, performing repairs, and selling HVAC equipment. Jim now manages a workforce of more than 40 qualified service technicians focused on delivering exceptional customer service, reliable products, and quality craftsmanship. Jim was honored with the ""Circle of Excellence"" award.
