In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to embark on a journey that took him to various farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. Eventually, Vearl opted to establish himself in Salt Lake City and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His establishment was a comprehensive hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl bought one of the earliest television sets in Salt Lake City. Though the television only displayed black and white images, it became the talk of the town and brought in large numbers of people. In time, Vearl no longer needed to sell jewelry and appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. The business is now managed by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim grew up immersed in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Currently, Jim leads a team of over 40 trained service experts dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship.
