In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to start a mission that would lead him to numerous farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. His installations were part of the first indoor lighting systems ever created. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, Vearl launched his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His shop was a complete hardware store offering washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl bought one of the earliest television sets in Salt Lake City. Even though the TV set featured only black and white visuals, it became a sensation in the community and brought in large numbers of people. Eventually, Vearl moved away from selling jewelry and other appliances to focus on his expertise—plumbing and heating products. Today, the company is run by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim spent his childhood in the family business handling tasks from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, conducting repairs, and selling HVAC systems. Jim now employs over 40 skilled service professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship.
