In 1920, Vearl Manwill loaded his horse and wagon with tools, carbide lights, and pipes to start a mission that brought him to many farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. His installations were part of the first indoor lighting systems ever created. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store offering washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl purchased one of the first television sets in Salt Lake City. Though the television only displayed black and white images, it became a sensation in the community and attracted many visitors. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to concentrate on what he excelled at—plumbing and heating supplies. The business is now managed by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim was raised in the family business handling tasks from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, conducting repairs, and selling HVAC systems. Jim now manages a workforce of more than 40 qualified service technicians committed to ensuring the best customer service, trustworthy products, and superior craftsmanship. Jim was honored with the ""Circle of Excellence"" award.
