With only a bicycle and basic tools, K.B. Hill developed the company from the ground up, including the installation of Sumter's first built-in tub.

He was dedicated to his trade and took a grassroots approach, nurturing relationships and engaging with the local community.

He took pride in assisting those less fortunate, including keeping a disabled and terminally ill employee on payroll until he passed away.

After weathering the Great Depression, K.B. handed the reins to his son, Leverne Hill, in 1957.
