Nearly a century later, Hill Plumbing Company has grown to be one of South Carolina's largest plumbing contractors.

With only a bicycle and basic tools, K.B. Hill developed the company from the ground up, including the installation of Sumter's first built-in tub.

K.B. Hill believed in his craft and emphasized grassroots efforts, building connections and working alongside the local community.

He took pride in assisting those less fortunate, including keeping a disabled and terminally ill employee on payroll until he passed away.

Surviving the Great Depression, K.B. eventually passed the business to his son, Leverne Hill, in 1957.

Leverne widened the company’s scope to include commercial plumbing, extending Hill Plumbing's presence throughout the state.
