I’m Steve Walters, the President and Owner of Walters Environmental Services, Inc., founded by my parents, Faber and Beverly Walters, in 1973. They created a septic cleaning unit mounted on a truck, which cost $900. With my mother, Bev, handling the secretary and dispatcher roles, our family ventured into the small business world. During that period, my sister, brother, and I were in grade school. We learned to navigate the specific challenges of the service sector. After completing college, I returned to work and began at the ground level of our company, eventually purchasing the business from my parents and guiding it into a new direction in the septic industry. In 1980, he prepared his child, Steven, teaching him the skills needed to lead the company. In 1986, the office and shop moved to 354 A Street. In 1990, the company was established as Jones Plumbing Inc.. The year 1993, to improve service, the owner recruited his brother Ronald, Ronald M. Jones, as the business manager. In 1995, due to growth, it became necessary for facilities to expand. An expanded complex was established to offer additional workspace, office space, and a new exhibit. By 2001, he assumed ownership of the company, continuing the family legacy into the 21st Century. The year 2012, Jason Wetzel acquired the company. The display area received enhancements and expanded services were introduced to our patrons. The year 1995, he earned his degree with an honor in technical education. the owner brought Jason on at the business as an apprentice plumber. The year 1996, he married Melanie and enrolled Valley Forge Christian College to become a pastor while his wife finished her degree in education. By 1998, they returned to Carlisle and the skilled plumber came back to the business. Following more education, Jason was promoted to a field technician. By 2000, Jason and Melanie along with their two-year-old daughter, settled in Millersburg to become part-time youth leaders while maintaining part-time plumbing duties. By 2001, he launched his own contracting company, his contracting business in Millersburg, PA while also serving in the ministry. In 2003, the couple bought a property in Carlisle and moved back with their children, Caleb and Bethany. The year 2012, Jason acquired the company while maintaining his renovation firm.
