Back then, I wasn’t grateful for the chance and viewed the trade as “too messy,” but my initial disdain gradually transformed into fascination. I was enthusiastic about learning, and before long, I progressed rapidly as a plumbing technician. Despite my skills, I found it challenging to grasp the underlying concepts. My uncles instructed me in repairs and replacements, but whenever something was out of the ordinary, I was utterly confused! However, I wasn’t satisfied with this narrow knowledge, so I committed to exploring the science and origins of plumbing! After parting ways with a manager, I opted to go into business for myself, which set the stage for my aspirations to come to life! Ever since, I’ve been able to share my expertise with my two younger brothers and witness their success too!
Throughout my childhood, I frequently heard that I was bright or gifted, which led me to believe I was meant to build something larger than life. Growing up with a single mother, money issues were a constant challenge. I envisioned one day using my ‘talented brain’ to make our troubles disappear, yet that day felt like it would never arrive. In my adolescence, I went through a challenging time that made me doubt myself. I began to feel as if a dark cloud was following me, and I became blind to my ambitions. Fast forward a few years, my family and I faced eviction from our apartment, and I was earning minimum wage while also delivering pizzas. I considered all the people I felt I had failed, and I took the blame. That feeling of being cornered with no one to help me inspired me to seek the resources to not only escape but to lay the groundwork for a better tomorrow! That future is what I named Intrepid!
