The 2008 financial downturn led to my layoff. Months later, I made the decision to obtain my plumbing license and embark on the journey of entrepreneurship. With no access to a business loan, I concentrated on getting the word out about my plumbing services. I depended on unemployment assistance for two years, courtesy of President Obama. Since the unemployment money was insufficient for launching my business, I continued to hustle and inform friends and family of my goals. Even with my hard work, I struggled to make headway. I discovered in 2011 that Lowes needed installers, and I jumped at the chance. Today, I have a modest foothold in the plumbing sector, yet I continue to face obstacles.
