After the stock market collapse in 2008, I was let go. Eventually, I resolved to get my plumbing license and initiate the process of launching a small business. Securing a business loan proved impossible, so I focused on spreading the word about my services. I depended on unemployment assistance for two years, courtesy of President Obama. The unemployment funds were not enough to start my operations, so I kept networking and sharing my plans with friends and family. Despite my efforts, progress was slow. When I learned that Lowes was hiring installers in 2011, I took action. Today, I have a modest foothold in the plumbing sector, yet I continue to face obstacles. I owe much of my learning to my friend Bill Rucha in Michigan. I am grateful for his assistance and mentorship. I make an effort to help him when possible. I am often a one-man operation.
