Standard Plumbing was founded by Harry Berger in 1923, when we installed our inaugural coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. After establishing our reputation, we took on our first large project, installing plumbing for the new Wareham hotel. Yes, that Wareham hotel!

During the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger ventured to Alaska to seek gold, leaving his wife in charge. After his return from Alaska, Paul Anderson became an apprentice plumber with the company in 1941, eventually working there for 16 years before purchasing it in 1957.

Paul's sons, Rick and Dale, later became part of the family business. In 1958, we installed the first central air conditioning unit in the town. In January 1988, Rick purchased Dale Anderson's portion of the company.

The company was sold to four employees in 2004. Three of those employees continue to serve on the Board of Directors and supervise the company’s operations.
