Hailing from Asheville, Max started his plumbing career in Colorado, apprenticing with Kelly Vowel at Vowel Plumbing. During the day, he worked and traveled to Denver at night for plumbing courses at Red Rocks Community College. After receiving his Residential Plumbing license in Colorado, he returned home to Asheville.

Upon returning, Max and his wife Rachel identified a demand for a plumbing company that emphasized customer service and a positive work culture. Max passed the NC state plumbing license exam in 2005, and in 2007, they launched Four Seasons Plumbing to meet that demand.
