James has been in the plumbing industry since the late 70s. He earned his Journeyman license in Louisiana in 1985. He moved to Atlanta in 1985 and acquired his Georgia Master license after passing the exam. They relocated back to the New Orleans area in 1987. In 1992, he completed the second test for the Louisiana Master license and earned his certification. He has also participated in hurricane relief plumbing work in Texas. In 1993, he passed the Pearl River County Mississippi exam but allowed it to lapse when work was scarce.
