In 1923, Harry Berger founded Standard Plumbing, installing the first coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. After establishing our reputation, we took on our first large project, installing plumbing for the new Wareham hotel. Yes, that Wareham hotel!

During the tough times of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger went to Alaska to search for gold, leaving his wife to oversee operations. When he returned from Alaska, Paul Anderson joined the company as an apprentice plumber in 1941, staying for 16 years before buying it in 1957.

Rick and Dale, Paul’s sons, eventually entered the family business. In 1958, we were proud to install the town's first central air conditioning unit. In January 1988, Rick acquired Dale Anderson's share of the business.

In 2004, four employees took ownership of the company. Today, three of those original employees still serve as the Board of Directors, managing the company’s daily activities.
