Established in 1951 by Oliver J. Laughlin and his spouse Catherine, O.J. Laughlin Plumbing Company has grown to include more than 30 field personnel, comprising plumbers and laborers, as well as a seven-member office team. Dan, a third-generation member of the family business founded in 1951 by his grandfather and later managed for over 30 years by his uncle Bob Laughlin, takes immense pride in his heritage. Following his graduation from Parkway West High School, Dan entered a five-year apprenticeship, supported by Plumbers/Pipefitters Local 562. Upon earning his plumbing licenses for St. Louis City and St. Louis County, he was elevated to Job Foreman, taking charge of O.J. Laughlin's significant plumbing projects. After five years in the role of Field Foreman, he gradually shifted to the office, where he was trained as both an Estimator and Project Manager. In 2000, Dan was promoted to Vice President, taking responsibility for most commercial, industrial, medical, and healthcare projects. He took full responsibility for all design/build projects. On December 28, 2012, Dan and Bob Laughlin finalized a purchase agreement, transferring sole ownership of O.J. Laughlin Plumbing Company, Inc. to Dan.

After WWI, Frank assumed full ownership and operated from his residence on California Street in St. Louis until 1970, when the company moved to its current location in Webster Groves.
Frank's sons, Joe and Bill, joined the plumbing profession, extending the company’s services to larger commercial projects while continuing to enhance service and remodeling. Bill's older sons, Bill Jr. and Jim, came into the business immediately after high school, and Joe's son, John, joined the company in 1978.
