Once he obtained his plumbing licenses for both St. Louis City and St. Louis County, he advanced to Job Foreman, overseeing larger plumbing projects for O.J. Laughlin. After five years in the role of Field Foreman, he gradually shifted to the office, where he was trained as both an Estimator and Project Manager. Dan was elevated to Vice President in 2000, where he became responsible for a wide range of commercial, industrial, medical, and healthcare projects. He took full responsibility for all design/build projects. On December 28, 2012, Dan and Bob Laughlin signed a purchase agreement, granting Dan sole ownership of O.J. Laughlin Plumbing Company, Inc.

Linek Brothers Plumbing Company was created by Frank and Henry Linek, concentrating on repair services and remodeling. After World War I, Frank became the sole proprietor and operated from his home on California Street in St. Louis until 1970, when the business relocated to its current site in Webster Groves.
