After securing his plumbing licenses in St. Louis City and St. Louis County, he was promoted to Job Foreman, managing O.J. Laughlin's larger plumbing projects. After five years as a Field Foreman, he transitioned into the office, where he trained to become both an Estimator and Project Manager. Dan was elevated to Vice President in 2000, where he became responsible for a wide range of commercial, industrial, medical, and healthcare projects. He took full responsibility for all design/build projects. On December 28, 2012, Dan and Bob Laughlin finalized a purchase agreement, transferring sole ownership of O.J. Laughlin Plumbing Company, Inc. to Dan.

Linek Brothers Plumbing Company was created by Frank and Henry Linek, concentrating on repair services and remodeling. Following World War I, Frank took over as the sole owner, running the business from his home on California Street in St. Louis until 1970, when it moved to its present location in Webster Groves.
Joe and Bill, Frank's sons, entered the plumbing field, expanding the company’s work to encompass larger commercial jobs and improving service and remodeling. Bill's two older sons, Bill Jr. and Jim, joined the business right after high school, and Joe's son, John, became part of the company in 1978.
