During the war, he attended the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. She took service calls, and Dick Ray responded to them by phone and attended to the jobs. They offered 24-hour service even in those early days.

The family that came from England to Kansas City and assisted in laying the first sewer six generations ago continues to flourish. At the time of the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941, Dick Ray was a student at the University of Washington in Seattle. He departed Seattle to enroll in the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, where he graduated as an Ensign.

Following his service in the South Pacific, he returned to New Orleans as the commanding officer of his LCI, where the ship was decommissioned after the war.

In 1949, three years later, Dick returned to his hometown of Kansas City, where he started his plumbing business and began a family with his new bride, Shirley. He couldn't afford a truck and began his business using the family Chevy for service calls, towing an equipment trailer. He managed all the work himself, without any helpers. Shirley answered the phone at their home in Merriam while raising their three children. She regularly handled service calls and passed the work orders to Dick.

Even in those early days, they provided 24-hour service. The phone rang beside Dick's bed, and he was always ready to respond.

Mike Crosby grew up in the Kansas City area graduating from Bonner Springs High School in 1980. Mike and his wife Sandy met in high school. Mike's father-in-law, a plumber, sparked his interest in plumbing. After 4 years of schooling through Plumbers Local 8, Mike graduated with a Journeyman's License and went on to receive his Master Plumber's License.

He completed an apprenticeship at A.D. Jacobson focusing on commercial plumbing. He then switched over to residential plumbing and spent many years in the local industry. Following a year as a Maintenance Supervisor at KU Medical Center, the opportunity arose for Mike to create his own business.

After starting Crosby Plumbing Inc. in 2003, he operated in new home builds and service areas. Mike is still in the field today with a wide variety of experience ranging from your kitchen sink to the largest sewer treatment plant. Over the years, he has become not only Master Plumber certified but also Med Gas certified.
