Upon earning his plumbing licenses for St. Louis City and St. Louis County, he was elevated to Job Foreman, taking charge of O.J. Laughlin's significant plumbing projects. After five years as a Field Foreman, he transitioned into the office, where he trained to become both an Estimator and Project Manager. In 2000, Dan ascended to the role of Vice President, overseeing the majority of commercial, industrial, medical, and healthcare projects. He took full responsibility for all design/build projects. On December 28, 2012, Dan and Bob Laughlin finalized a purchase agreement, transferring sole ownership of O.J. Laughlin Plumbing Company, Inc. to Dan.

Linek Brothers Plumbing Company was created by Frank and Henry Linek, concentrating on repair services and remodeling. After World War I, Frank became the sole proprietor and operated from his home on California Street in St. Louis until 1970, when the business relocated to its current site in Webster Groves.
Frank's sons, Joe and Bill, followed in their father's footsteps, broadening the company’s scope to include larger commercial projects while enhancing service and remodeling. Bill's two older sons, Bill Jr. and Jim, joined the business right after high school, and Joe's son, John, became part of the company in 1978.
