In 1909, he took on the role of plumbing inspector in the city of Battle Creek, however resumed his plumbing work in the year 1911 when he joined Hanchett Plumbing, a company he would eventually buy in 1912. Back then, he earned 12-1/2 cents per hour.
Arthur's offspring, Helen, Walt, and Warren participated in the plumbing industry. Both Helen and Warren operated the business from the middle of the 1950s up until March 1980. Currently, the business is managed and owned by Arthur's grandson, Arthur W. Crooks II.
