The visionary behind our company, Arthur W. Crooks, was born during the year 1885 in the town of Goshen, Indiana and transferred to Sturgis, MI during his childhood. Despite being the top student of his graduating class, he had a scholarship to Hillsdale College, however financial issues held him back from attending.
He became an educator in Colon, MI and in 1907 he moved in Battle Creek to begin his plumbing trade.
During 1909, he took on the role of plumbing inspector for the City of Battle Creek, but resumed plumbing in 1911 by working with Hanchett Plumbing, a company he would eventually buy in the year 1912. During that period, he earned 12.5 cents for each hour worked.
Arthur's children, including Helen, Walt, and Warren worked within the plumbing industry. Both Helen and Warren operated the business from the middle of the 1950s up until March 1980. Now, it is run and owned by Arthur W. Crooks II, his grandson.
